Chapter 6

*** this is the huntsmans story and a little about Kristens past will be revealed as well. I am thinking that maybe the next chapter will be in Charlies POV just to spice things up a bit, I know y'all are ready for some actiony twists and turns.

THE HUNTSMANS POV:  

" My name is Alpha Raphael Ramirez, my story is not a very pleasant one although their are a few bright spots in it. It is long and some of it is very painful for me to tell." 

I looked towards Leo, he seemed ready to hear what I had to say.  The fates had shined on my daughter when they chose her mate. I could see he would protect her at all costs, something I wished I could have done better. He held out his hand to shake and grasped it tightly knowing that he was getting every meaning possible from it, I could see it in his eyes, he was reading me, while I in turn was reading him. 

" I was Alpha of the Valiente pack we lived here peacefully before Charlie came. His wife Emerald came to us one night, she wasn't afraid to go find a pack of wolves. When they brought her to me, I knew. She was mine, yet she was already married. She had come to warn us of Charlie and told me that he had married her against her will. He was going to burn down the forest and make us move if we did not agree to his treaty the next day. We knew, of course he had been in the area and although we had a bad feeling about him, we hadn't considered him a threat, until Emerald showed up and showed me otherwise." 

at this point Leo stopped me, " showed?" 

" Emerald had this amazing ability to show you your future in her mind depending on the path you take, at first I was unafraid of Charlie,but she showed me the devastation of the forest and I knew that couldn't ever happen. The next day early in the morning the patrols smelled fire, Charlie had figured out that Emerald had been there to warn us. Instead of destroying the forests though he did set a fire, it was only a distraction. The real devastation came to our direct water source. He wouldn't risk poisoning the river, but we had a small clearwater pond, that had originally come from the river and dried leaving only the pond. He poured silver in it." 

" I had run to the edge of the border where the patrols had smelled fire, Charlie was there waiting holding tightly to a struggling Emerald. I was the only one to escape the poisoned water, Emerald had warned me as soon as I got within range of her abilities. You have probably felt the mindlink with Kristen, Yes?"  

Leo nodded, his face a mask but behind it I could see the horror in his eyes. 

" By the time I was able to give a direct Alpha order to not drink the water from the pond it was too late, many had already started cooking, bathing, and everything else they did on a normal day, the only ones that were caught aware were the patrols that had smelled the fire, they had already come back sprinting to the town and drank from the pond. It hadn't had an immediate effect on them,but I realized now that was the slowest way to go. I could do nothing to help them. My pack was gone. My mate lied in the arms of another every night. I was utterly alone. So I decided to fight, I couldn't just give my home up, not like that. He used Emerald against me, for every blow I put on that forcefield, it returned double on me." 

" Finally, I just stayed down. I signed the agreement that made him king. Being as I was the only one left he allowed me to stay with Emeralds pleading. I was to be the huntsman. Now here I am. " 

Leo's mouth was agape and as soon as I came up for air from my reverie, he said, " what happened to Kristens mother, did Charlie find out?" 

" Charlie was a chaser, he was at one point a wolf like me, but because his own wolf rejected him, he became a chaser, it happens occasionally but mostly because you have a horrible aura about your heart. Your soul is black and therefore your wolf cannot breathe and dies. So because Emerald was a witch he used her and in the end took her powers when he realized she was going to fight back. We had been sneaking around for some time before he realized what was going on, only when I finally marked her did he feel the burn whenever he touched her at night. He wasn't stupid he knew what was going on. When Emerald grew round he threatened to kill her and me. But Kristen was powerful she protected her mother and a forcefeild was around her at all times. I was the only one that could touch her.  However we both knew that the forcefield would only last while Kristen was still inside her. So when Kristen was born we took her and hid her until she was old enough to do without her mother."
