The scream came from the door that I just walked by. I slowly opened the door as Kai, Hailey, Savannah, Sarah, and Drew.
Bang!
The door opened fully as I saw Erin, attempting to keep the gun from pointing at her. The thing is, the gun was being held by Felicia. Both were fighting vigorously to get what they wanted, whether it was killing or not getting killed.
"Felicia," I said in shock.
She looked at me, probably wishing that I hadn't seen this. While Felicia was distracted, Kai ran up and tackled her. Her pistol glided across the floor against the wall next to me.
"Why would you do this?" Sarah asked.
"Because they're weak! We were fine before they all showed up! Now that Derrick was bitten, we don't have enough meds in case one of us gets hurt! Half of them can't even fight!"
"But," Kai added. "You can't fight either."
She pulled out a knife and flared it at him.
"That doesn't matter! They are a liability! It was a matter of time before they all died, at least this way, we don't waste any resources!"
I couldn't believe my eyes or ears. She had gone insane.
"Felicia, you don't have to do this. I-"
She pointed her blade at me. She had been more than my best friend for nearly seven years, and during that time, I've begun to have feelings for her. But with that shiny, sharp weapon pointed at me, all of those feelings were lost. I backed against the wall as she went back towards Erin. Her knife was poised above her, ready to strike. I knew that I had to do something.
I picked up the gun that had been dropped and pointed it at Felicia. As I looked down the sights, she looked at me in fear. I had tears in my eyes as I cried out,
"I'm sorry, Felicia."
Bang!
Being the first time that I had shot a gun, let alone touched one at all, I was surprised to get a headshot. Her body fell to the floor as her blood leaked onto the white floor. I felt sadness, as if I had killed a part of myself. There was only one way to fix that.
I pointed the gun at my own head.
"I'm so very sorry."
Before I closed my eyes, I saw Kai running towards me to stop me, Hailey doing hand gestures telling me not to do this, and Sarah wiping away her tears. But the last thing I saw was the body of the girl that I loved, dead, and I couldn't handle it.
Bang!
