I was so shocked to see what Zoe had done. Pretty soon, Alyson, Macie, Gabe, Ben, and Susan showed up.
"W-what happened?" Macie asked.
"Felicia was the killer, so Zoe killed her," I shivered, "Then killed herself."
"Wait," Ben looked strangely at me, "If she was the killer how do we know we can trust you? How do we know if your just going to continue her doings?"
"She did this, not us."
"So? You were her friends! You could kill us just like Chris and Luke! I want you to leave!"
Kai sarcastically chuckled.
"You want us to leave?! If we didn't let you in to our home, you would have died!" he exclaimed.
"Well," Susan said angrily, "We're not leaving."
"Neither are we!"
Ben slung the shotgun on his back into his arms.
"I guess that we'll have to make you leave."
Everyone in the room drew their guns on each other. It was Kai, Hailey, Gabe, Macie, Alyson, Savannah, and I on one side, and the other side had Ben, Susan, Erin, and Drew-wait...what was Drew doing?
"I'm sorry," he said. "But you're just a bunch of kids. These people are strong and have experience, and let's face it. Once you guys showed up, my entire family died. You guys have to go."
"It's six against four. You can't win," I pointed out.
Ben pondered this.
"Fine," he sneered. "We'll leave, but we'll be back!"
The four of them grabbed Derrick's unconscious body and left.
"We need to defend ourselves. Sarah, let's take the plywood out back and make walls out of it. First thing in the morning, we need to set up those walls to keep them out in a way making the ski lift the only way in or out," Kai commanded.
Kai chose me because I had always loved engineering and things like that. We nailed the boards together for the next hour. By the time we were done, the sun was down. We went inside and parted ways into our rooms.
I was awoken at dawn by Kai. We carried the boards out front and began to set them up.
"You know, they're just going to come back stronger, maybe with more people to fight with them," I started a conversation as we worked.
"Yeah, but we'll be prepared."
"We could do with some more good people. Now that Drew is gone, maybe I could send out the radio signals."
"That's fine. Let's just hope that they don't betray us again."
"We need more people like us. People who are trustworthy and smart enough to know who to side with."
"Your right, but I'm just not-"
Bang!
I appeared to be fine. Whoever took that shot didn't aim for me. Who ever took that shot was aiming at Kai. Just left of his abdomen, where he had been stabbed when we were kidnapped by Simon, his grey shirt and navy flannel filled with blood. He crashed to the ground in pain. I looked around as more people closed in around us. I picked up Kai's tiny body and carried it inside to where Derrick had been laid the day before. I bandaged the wound and gave him some meds to make him heal faster. I ran to wake the others up.
Everyone was poking their heads out to check out what the shot was all about. I told everyone what happened, so they all geared up. Gabe threw on an orange sweatshirt and some sweatpants. He tossed Katie's katana in it's sheet and slung it over his back. Hailey too put a sweatshirt on, but had jeans on. She put Taylor's machete sheathe on one side of her belt, and the other side held the holster for her .22 Detective revolver. Macie threw a flannel that she found in a random closet over her black T-shirt and she wore jeans the had a selection of knives in the belt. She held her mountain pick tightly. Savannah put a sheathe of arrows over a jersey. Her hatchet was tucked into the pocket of her sweatpants and she held onto her compound bow. Alyson wore a T-shirt and yoga pants. Her massive assault rifle had a long belt of ammunition coming out the side of it and she had another ammo belt wrapped around her neck as if it were a scarf. Finally, I had on a T-shirt of some popular band as well as some leggings that looked like outer space. I wrapped my knife sheathes around my calves and held my Desert Eagle with honor.
Kai not being able to fight would give us a disadvantage because our numbers would be brought down, but we are no less than Kai. We can take all of them without him. This was all out war.
