We were all shocked to find out that our only doctor was dead. I knew something was up, but Hailey shouted it out before me.
"It must have been the newest three! There weren't any deaths before they turned up!"
The 6 adults didn't show up all at the same time. Luke was the first to show up, then Erin and Chris. Just a few days ago, Ben, Susan, and Derrick settled in.
"It couldn't have been Derrick," I defended. "He looks as pale as when we dropped him off just an hour ago."
"You have a point, Savannah." Kai backed me up.
"Well,-"
The only remaining light in the room flickered off for the final time. The same thing happened to the rest of the lights in the lobby. Kai cursed.
"There must be a busted circuit. Savannah, could you keep watch while I fix it?"
I obliged and he led me outside to the wind turbine. Kai opened a large panel attached to an electrical box. As he tinkered with the circuits inside of it, and sparks emitted from it. A large surge erupted from the box creating a very loud sound.
"That noise is gonna bring more walkers to us. Take care of them, please," Kai yelled through the high winds. He wasn't wrong. 4 walkers appeared in the trees coming towards us. I loaded an arrow into my bow and aimed the stringed-weapon. I moved vaguely to my left until I had the absolute best shot. I released the paracord and the arrow flew through the air. It passed straight through one head, and impaled the walker behind the first's eye. 2 remained. I gripped my hatchet and ran to the corpse closest to me. I lunged at it, and let my weapon slice off the walker's jaw. To finish that one off, I lodged the weapon in it's head...but it got stuck.
I tried desperately to free my hatchet, but the other walker got too close. I had no time for my weapon. The corpse grabbed my arm with it's rotted hands. I yanked my arm as hard as I could, but the walker's grip was too good. I fell to the ground with the walker on top of me.
I gripped it by the throat so that I wouldn't get bitten. It's arms flailed around me, getting my arms tired of holding it. I threw both of my hands to the base of the walker's jaw. My fingernails bug into it's skin, followed by my fingers opening a crevice in the base of the skull. I shoved my fingers up farther until I could feel it's disgusting tongue. My fingers bent forward, and I pried my hands apart. The head split open from the base, blood spewing out, organs falling onto my once grey, but now dark red, sweatshirt. I got up and collected my hatchet and arrow with ease.
I ran over to Kai, who was standing by the turbine that was running again. The lights of the lodge started up again.
"You good?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's-"
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
We rushed inside where we found Sarah, Hailey, and Drew standing there.
"It came from this direction!" Drew yelled.
We ran the way that e had pointed and stopped in front of a door labeled, "Family Restroom". A stream of blood flowed under the door. Sarah slowly opened the door. Ben's dead body lay there on the tile floor. A single hole in his head leaked blood just as Luke's had three hours ago.
"Hold on," I noticed. "He has one bullet in him, but there were three shots. He must have put up a fight with the killer."
"So that means that whoever killed him must be bruised or bloodied," Hailey pointed out. "Well, except for Savannah, who was killing walkers during the killing."
We all pondered who the murderer was, when a loud scream emerged from inside the building. I could tell, another murder would about to take place.
