2.

The plane ride was quiet and lonely. I left my head phones in the entire time unless one of the plane attendants asked if I wanted something to drink or a small snack.

When I landed the weather was quite chilly and I shuffled through one of my bags pulling out a green sweatshirt. I slipped it on over my head as I dragged my bags out the airport door.

A taxi awaited my arrival and I smiled at him as he ushered me in the back.
I flung my bags in next to me and he began to drive towards where tall buildings were in the distance.

By the time we made it to the town I would be living in for a year, the night had blanketed the lively town as lights illuminated each and every street.

People drank and there was people everywhere.

"You can stop at the Hampton inn up there"

He nodded and eventually stopped in front of the hotel.

I handed him my credit card and waited for him to scan it while I took a small look out of the vehicle.

The chilly air slipped through the cracked window and I heard heavy music playing from the club across the street.

People laughed loudly and the taxi driver tapped me on the shoulder, holding my card out to me.

I thanked him and collected my bags while walking into the warm hotel.

I checked in with the lady at the front and she handed me a key card.

I kept my headphones in as I made it to the elevator.
A man followed me in and I nodded my head to the beat.

I felt a small hand on my shoulder and looked up.
"Hey Garfield"

I felt my body tense up as Bruce Wayne smiled down at me.
I straightened my back and quickly yanked my ear buds out as the ear pieces hit the metal bottom of the elevator.

"Oh uh.. Mr Wayne.. Sir I.. Uh ..hey?"

I felt star struck and slightly intimidated as the batman stood right next to me.

He chuckled "You don't have to act so nervous, you know"

I scratched the back of my head,
nervously laughing. "Uh yeah"

"So how's Dick?"

I shrugged with an averted gaze. "I don't know if he's letting people know but star fires pregnant. As well as we messed up on a mission..so we're trying to stay low"

Bruce's eyebrows lifted. "Well I knew about the whole hive incident, but I didn't know Dick was expecting.."

I nodded, not really having anything else to say to the man.

"So you decided to stay in Chicago?"

I nodded "Yeah I mean, why not.Ya know? What are you doing here?"

Bruce messed with his new smartphone and cleared his throat. "I came to visit someone"

I nodded slowly, deciding not to probe any more.

"So your going to stay at the Hampton for a whole year?"

I looked up and sighed "For now I suppose. I don't really know anyone. Might rent a place or something.."

Bruce turned his body more towards mine. "The friend I came to visit is looking for a roommate, if you were interested, before I leave I can hook you up"

I began to wrap my headphones up as the elevator door swung open.

"I mean that doesn't sound bad it's just, I feel like it would be uncomfortable, since I wouldn't know this person"

Bruce patted my shoulder as we stepped out. "It's a chance to meet a new friend. That's how I see situations like this"

I let a small laugh out "Thats  true. Fine. Why the hell not. "

Bruce smiled and stuffed his hands into his pockets.

"Cool. I'll text you in the morning and arrange for something for tomorrow evening. Is that okay?"

I nodded slightly and awkwardly swung my hands "Well thanks"

Bruce chuckled " Do you make everything awkward? But no problem"

"I'm sorry" I laughed out.

"It's perfectly fine, I have to go, but watch out for a text from me tomorrow"

"Will do"

He strolled down the hallway with a small lazy wave and smile on his face.

I returned a similar wave and headed towards my room for the night.

As soon as I got to my room, I sank on the bed in thought.
