Taking the photo he sets it on his nightstand, turning off the lamp. He lays down, resting his head on the pillow, the sound of the rain outside hitting the window pane calms him. He covers up in his comforter, stuffing most of it in the space between his legs, so he doesn't have to feel them against each other, as he does this he begins grabbing a bunch of it and holding it close to him while the other hand rest under his head for comfort. He rest his eyes, begging to not have another nightmare, and soon the sweet serenity of sleep grasps him pulling him under.
Ann leans on one side of the door frame, and once assured her little brother is asleep, she scans the room one more time before heading into the living room. Opening up her laptop to begin working on school work. Her fingers are tapping the keys hard enough you can't tell whether it's her or the rain on the window. The sound of the doorbell ringing interrupted her concentration.
Looking out the window, she checks to see who it is, before she opens the door greeting the officer.
"What do you want Connor?"
"I've been waiting out there for a week, I can't come in and check in?"
"I'm busy."
She may seem cold but her heart is no longer waiting for a prince to come to the rescue, it has become a knight to protect itself.
"Ann..."
"Goodnight Connor."
"Troy?" The voice resonated loud enough to shock Troy out of his sudden nap.
"The answer?" Mr. Larzon asks. He scans the board, which is covered in numbers. Quickly coming up with something.
"42." He says.
"Good, stay awake please." Mrs. Larzon says, a slight smile comes across her face. The bell soon rings, Troy stumbles to gather his things. Once everything's back in his backpack he picks it up swinging, it over his shoulder, and carries the books that do not fit. He takes out his phone while he walks down the hall his fingers racing to text Kourtney. Just as he's about to hit send, he's suddenly knocked to the ground. His backpack, books, and phone, slam against the floor, he dust's himself off as he gets up.
He looks up. To see a handsome young man, who was taller, but appears the same age standing before him. His green eyes are caring and filled with joy, his light brown hair is as dark as partially wet sand, and is as short as a football field's AstroTurf.
"I'm s-so sorry, I-I wasn't..." He stammers, trying to apologize as soon as he gets to his feet.
"No it's not your fault I was being rushed." The boy says with a smile.
"I believe these are yours." He says as he hands troy the thick text books, and the phone. Taking the books with his left hand, using his right he pushes back the little amount of hair he has behind his ear without realizing it.
"Thanks..."
"Leo, you're the new kid right?" The boy says sticking his hand out for troy to shake.
Troy nods, his heart thumbing out a rhythm of what sounds like African drums.
"Maybe we should hang out sometime." Leo suggest, putting his hand down, a little embarrassed.
Troy nods again. If only to get the boy, to walk away.
"LEO!" A voice calls out, Turning around he can see it's that tall blonde boy he had the unfortunate opportunity to meet the first day. Leo turns his attention to the boy down the hall.
