Brides To Be

The Dinkans

Kate was very excited about their wedding. She called up all of the bride's friends and invited them, she scheduled an appointment for cake testing and dress shopping. The only time she wasn't working on the wedding was when she was eating, sleeping, working, or trying to convince her parents to support her sister.
When she wasn't making any progress with them she asked Natalie if her family had talked to her since they came out. It turns out they had not so Kate decided she would try them.
That weekend she drove over to the Dinkans's house. She knocked on the door and Mrs. Dinkan, Natalie's Mother, answered.
"Oh, hello, Kate. Is there something I can do for you?"
"Not for me, but for Natalie, yes. May I come in?" Mrs. Dinkan nodded and stepped aside, letting Kate enter the old house. The Dinkan household was very nice and very...... antique. It looked like nothing had changed since the fifties.
Kate sat down on a white couch in their parlor. Mrs. Dinkan sat across from her.
"Now, Kate, I know you have come to lecture to me about how "love is love", Rachel has ranted to me many times, but I don't need a lecture. I stand my ground. I think the girls are just confused. Besides, it's not natural. Sometimes used look back and try to see what's did wrong in raising her to have her become this." She said the word this with such disgust you would think she was talking about the devil. Mrs. Dinkan shook her head and looked st the ground.
"But you didn't do anything wrong, Mrs. D. This is just who Nat is. She is lesbian, you don't have to support her, just accept it. That is all I ask. Just accept it and come to the wedding. It would mean the world to Nat and EJ."
Mrs. Dinkan sighed. "I think about it. After all, she is still my daughter. And with that Kate left, feeling proud of herself and excited to tell the news to Nat and Emma Jane.

I just wanted to remind you guys that feedback helps! If you feel like this story is hitting a down slope please tell me that way I can mix it up. Also I got a question for you: who is your favorite and least favorite character? I personally hate Emma Jane's Dad, Mr. Hurt. My favorite is (besides my lovely couple) has got to be Kate. I'm modeling her after all my sisters combined!
