"There he goes again, taking pictures of Miss President." You sighed in defeat, resting your head on your friend's shoulder. You felt her shake her head.
"And there you go again, getting all jealous and depressed about it." She let out a chuckle.
"It's just, I've admired him for a year but all I've ever seen him do is take pictures of her!" You exclaimed, gesturing over the student council president. You saw that she had caught him taking pictures of her. She smiled at him and he looked away bashfully. That little interaction made your heart crumble.
"Why won't he just confess his undying love to her?" You groaned and sat tiredly on the bench.
"Because, my friend, maybe he likes somebody else. You need to loosen up a bit. Don't get too affected by Jeon Jungkook. He's just a guy." She said, pulling you up to your feet. She shifted her glance to the watch on her wrist and her eyes looked like they were about to pop out of their sockets. "Shoot! We're late!" She yelled and yanked my arm. We ran to the stairs, taking two to three steps at a time.
"I hope at least two good seats are still empty." You panted, resting your hands on your knees before finally opening the door to see that the professor hadn't arrived yet. You and your friend sighed in relief but frowned the moment you realized that the only seats remaining were at the very front. "Well, I think we're going to be getting a lot of attention this semester." You said as you sat down with your friend on your left and on your right were a couple of vacant chairs.
You and your friend were both immersed into catching up and talking about each other's summer experiences when you felt a light tap on your shoulder. You rotated your head to face him. Your eyes were so wide and your mouth agape. "Hey." He smiled bashfully and rubbed his nape, his other hand gripping the camera slung around his neck. "Can I sit here?" He asked, pointing to the chair on your right. You couldn't move or say anything at all because all you could think about was why was Jeon Jungkook in the same class as I?
He stared at you with anticipation but you still couldn't answer him. You were muttering inaudible things under your breath and Jungkook just tilted his head to the side. "Yeah. Go ahead and sit there. Don't worry about her. She's still a little hungover from summer vacation." She smiled sheepishly over him and pulled your seat closer to hers.
'Didn't I tell you to not get too affected? This was what I meant.' She wrote on a piece of yellow paper she had managed to find on the floor.
'I can't help it! He's sitting beside me for Pete's sake!' You wrote back, your hands still shivering.
'You should conquer your fear of talking to him right this moment. Go and start a conversation.' She answered, pushing your chair towards Jungkook's.
Your chair nearly crashed on the floor until you felt someone lifting it back up. "Hey, are you okay?" He asked you with concern plastered all over his face.
You nodded, trying to avoid eye contact. "Yes. I'm-- uh, I'm fine. T-thank you." You managed to say to him. You wanted to slap yourself for sounding so awkward in front of him.
"Well, you don't sound fine." He answered, concern still running through him.
"Jungkook, I'm fine, really." You replied, glancing at him. Your eyes locked on his for a moment and you could see that there was definitely something in those eyes and the way he stared that makes you think of him even when your mind is too preoccupied with several other things. When you felt that you had been staring at each other for a long while already, you fixed yourself and decided to turn your head to the front.
"How was your summer vacation?" You heard his voice and looked over at him. He had a smile on his face, waiting for your answer. You were thankful that he had been the one trying to open up. That was the start of your conversation with Jungkook. Of course, the awkwardness was still there but it was not as much as it was before.
The day came to an end and you were about to go home. "I'll see you tomorrow, I guess." Jungkook said to you before going to the opposite direction. You saw him walking away already. Before you could take another step further, you felt something under your shoe. It was his camera's lid. You bent down to pick it up and was about to chase him down the hallway but, what was there to chase when Jungkook was right there, capturing a photo of you?
"What are you doing?" Your eyebrows creased in confusion. He shook his head nervously and his widened eyes were fixated on you. "You should be taking pictures of the president of the student council, and that's not me. I know how much you like her." You tried to tell him without your voice wavering.
Jungkook's eyebrows furrowed for an instant before he released a chuckle. He was maneuvering something in his camera before hollering you over. "I want to show you a photo of the girl I like." He held the camera in front of you and you had to squint your eyes to confirm that the girl in the photo was really you. "That student council president, the school paper adviser assigned me to write an article about her." Your eyes shifted from the camera to him. You could feel your heart ramming inside your chest as you carefully peruse his facial features before you.
"It's always been you. My camera might have been focused on her but my eyes have always been on you." There was a faint smile playing on his lips before he turned his camera off and let it fall impetuously around his neck.
