“Babe,”

Katy’s voice is now coming from next to me and I realise she must have moved beside me. I feel her hand on my back as she leans closer to me, so close that I feel her warm breath on the side of my face.

“Come on, let’s go home honey.”

I feel her almost lifting me up, and one hand remains around me as we walk. I wipe my, once again, tear stained face with my hands and feel Oliver at the other side of me holding my shoulders. My eyes come into contact with the now paparazzi surrounded exit and I close my eyes hoping there wouldn’t be any hassle as we leave, but being the paps, of course there would be.

“Oh lord,” I hear Oliver whisper under his breath, tightening his grip on my shoulders. Katy too doing the same with her arm around me.

She slips her hand from around me and finds her grip on my hand, pulling our now joined hands so my whole body is forced to move closer into her. I look up, the top of my head being level with Katy’s shoulders, and notice her serious facial expression as she looks in the direction of the press. Her eyebrows are creased into a V shape, and her lips are pouted slightly as she chews irritatedly on the side of her lips. I notice her eyes, those blue ones so identical to my own, but now not as blue. They stare towards the cameras, now dull and more of a greyish colour, and that’s when I notice the flash of fear and uncertainty that strikes through them. Whilst I look, the flashing reflecting back at me through them make me realise we’re only a meter away from the doors, and Katy holds my hand tighter than before.

Her head turns my way, looking straight down at me; our eyes meeting. They shift up to Oliver for only a couple of seconds, but then returning back down to mine as she almost analyzes my face and what I’m wearing. Katy’s arm stretches over my head. I feel her fiddling and tugging on something on the back of my leather jacket, until my hearing goes slightly muffled as she pulls my hood up. I know this action isn’t to protect me from the rain, due to the fact there is none, but it’s to protect me from the idiots outside; that go by the name of paparazzi.

“Keep your head down,” she tells me, and kisses my forehead.

I nod and do as she says, dropping my head slightly so that I’m staring at the white laces of my navy blue Vans.

“Samantha!” I lift my head up as you do when someone calls your name, only to realise it was the paps and returning it back down.

Katy’s eyes are now hiding behind her pair of Raybans and Oliver guides us through the horrific flashing lights.

“Katy you look beautiful today!”

“Katy how’s motherhood goin girl?”

“Yo Katy, how about you both smile for a picture?”

“This dude your boyfriend?”

“Oi Samantha, look over here! You havin a good day out with your mom, huh?”

I lean my head backwards, away from a black camera lens I can see coming towards my face, followed by a blinding flash that makes my eyes quickly close shut. My hood drops from my head, so I let go of Katy’s hand and shuffle out of Oliver’s grip so I can sort out my jacket and put my hood back up. I rely on the two parents beside me to guide me to where I’m going as my arms are over my head sorting my hood and I can barely see anything from the amounts of flashes going on all around us. I stumble slightly with how closed in we are, losing my balance and ending up behind Oliver and Katy, the paps now starting to surround me even more in the wave. I see my mom quickly turning back around and when I think she’s the one tugging on the arm of my jacket, I realise it’s the youngish pap beside me and instantly pull my arm away from him.
