WHERE YOU'VE LEFT OFF:

The water rushed pashed me making it a bit harder for me to swim, but I managed stroke my way deeper into the current. I saw a very elusive glowing at the floor of the river and made my way towards it. My lungs constricted and I knew I was running out of breath, but I kept going…

My wolf was at her brim helping me push through, but still I remained inexorable. I had to make it. Once I got close enough to the glow I felt myself being sucked in. The water seemed to spin me relentlessly in circles taking me in like a tornado. I let out a gurgling scream as fear found my center and filled my body. I guess I just found my fate. I was going to die. My eyes widened once I couldn’t find oxygen and only took in water. Before I knew it, a bright light flashed before my eyes and I knew this would be my last sighting.

My wolf whimpered from what seemed like a distance and that was the final noise I heard before…well…before I…

I watched my mom rushed from room to room grabbing things here and there. I turned to Courtney who was playing with her toys unaware of our mother’s actions. I began going over to my father who had just went inside his office.

“Apa, what’s going on?” I asked quietly. He looked to me in a pained expression before coming over to me grabbing my arms softly before pecking my forehead.

“Baby girl, today your life is going to change and most likely not for the best. Now, I’m going to need you to listen and do everything papa says okay?” he says to me. I nodded patiently awaiting his words. He sighed before pecking my forehead.

“Mama, and papa are going to be gone for a long time, my love. I need you to take your sister and put her in as much of your care as possible. Now, grab your sister and come with me ok.” He told me and I nodded, curiosity still seeping through me.

I went into the hallway and gathered up Courtney bringing her to my retreating father as he began making his way down the corridor. He led us through a door I never even knew existed. He held it open as I walked in and made my way down some stairs.

“Édesem!” I heard my father call. I turned around to see him standing at the top of the stairs. I sat Courtney down and walked over to him. He held sadness in his eyes as he kneeled pulling me closer to him as he embraced me. Wrapping my arms around him tightly, I felt the dread of his next words filling in my stomach.

“You have to stay here for now. There’s shelter here for the two nights and one sunrise. When the sun begins to fall you run away from here. You must keep going Édesem, don’t ever stop.” He kissed my forehead.

“Én leszek a hullócsillag az égen, nézd meg nekem, rendben?” (I’ll be your shooting star in the sky, look out for me, alright?) He smiled sadly and I nodded as silent tears slid down my face. A whimpering murmur coming through my lips.
