That day, Nicole and Brand went out together. I decided to not play gooseberry. Cal had some family thing to attend to and left early, leaving me to fend for myself.
My two only good friends.
This is just a clear indication that I should get more friends.
Before Nicole didn't have a boyfriend, so I just stuck with her. Well, she dated a few times, there was this guy called Greg, but it didn't go out well. Afterwards, she just went on a long dating hiatus.
I went to my locker, placing my stuff and organising my stuff. I like to keep things organised like I must have mentioned before. Peacefully keeping my stuff, I must emphasise, I was minding my own business when I felt a hand rest on my shoulder.
I jumped, before turning back.
I jumped again.
A wave of shock swept over my features, and I almost dropped all my possessions like the other time. I must emphasise again, I almost dropped everything, but I didn't. My heart literally skipped a few beats as it went to an irregular heartbeat. I felt myself holding my breath, and a blush running to my cheeks. No, it was sprinting.
There were the familiar butterflies in my mouth.
Did that make sense? I'm unable to process anything at the moment.
My plain dull brown eyes met his ocean blue ones, and he blinked, forming a smile that looked almost genuine.
"Hi, Michelle. Oh, I am glad I said it correctly this time." Benjamin spoke, crinkling his eyes in amusement.
"Well, ye-yeah? Is there anything you nee-ed?" I managed, barely choking my words out. My stuttering was back full force.
I wondered how badly he was judging me.
He was alone, which was even weirder.
"Oh, you dropped your stuff. Again." He ended with a tone of mock anger, as he passed me a piece of foolscap paper. Strange. This isn't mine.
I reached out my hand to take it from him.
I swear our fingers mingled and there was electricity zapping between us.
Then again, I am not sure. I was too nervous.
The piece of paper was folded. Just like what a normal human would do, I opened the piece of paper in curiosity.
There was little written on the paper, just a few words scribbled in black ink. So this is how Benjamin Parker's handwriting looks like. It was a but cursive, but I could still make out the words as clear as day. There was a little smiley face below his words, and I think I just melted from the sheer cuteness of that smiley face.
There were the three words.
'You are cute. ;) '
I think I just died.
My mouth was wide agape. This was never like I have expected. Never. Never did I expect him coming up to me and passing me a note. Or even the fact that he called me cute?
He just called me cute.
Never in my wildest dreams.
"Look at you." He laughed, flashing his white pearly teeth and I died again. I don't know how to describe it, I just felt like a burning furnace during winter.
I looked around. There were a few people strolling around, and luckily, they weren't looking our way.
"Uh, well thank you for this..." I said awkwardly pointing at the note, before slipping it in my pocket.
