They had only been in the car for twenty minutes when the complaining started. "I'm hungry." Mike groaned. "Me too." Jayden added. "I want McDonald's." Antonio said. Once that thought was put into their heads, the Rangers couldn't get it out. "McDonald's! McDonald's! McDonald's!" They chanted. The chanting went on for about ten minutes when Ji had enough. "Quiet!" He shouted. The kids immediately went silent, the instinctive response. Ji then pulled out his phone and called the Head. "Hello?" The Head answered. "They're acting even more like children now!" Ji exclaimed. "What's happening?" "It's the effect the blast is having on their bodies." The Head explained. "We have specialists who can take care of them once you get here, but for now, you have to handle it." Ji sighed. He was about to say goodbye, when he heard a siren and saw blue and red lights flashing behind him. "Oh no." Ji said under his breath. "I've got to go." He then hung up the phone and pulled the ranger van over.
"Licence and registration." The policewoman said when she stepped up to the window. Ji handed over the paperwork and after checking it, the woman asked, "Do you know why I pulled you over today, sir?" "For talking on the phone while driving." Ji replied, sounding a lot like a student who's teacher was asking him what he did wrong. The woman nodded and started to write the ticket when she glanced to the back seats. "Lot of kids back there." She commented. "Yeah," Ji said, having to think on his feet. "I'm babysitting." "Oh." The policewoman said. She then started to write another ticket and handed it to Ji. "What's this for?" He asked. "You need to get them little ones in a car seat." She replied, walking back to her car. Ji sighed at his two tickets and drove to the nearest store.
"No way!" Kevin yelled, stomping his foot on the ground. "I am not riding in a car seat!" "Kev, come on." Mia said. "I'm hungry." "The sooner Kevin gets in the seat, the sooner we can go to McDonald's." Ji said. Upon hearing that, all the kids were outraged. Mixes of "C'mon Kevin!" and "Just get in the car seat!" Floated throughout the car. "Fine!" Kevin said giving up, "but I'm not happy about it." Ji accepted that and got him into the seat, driving the kids to McDonald's.
"What do you want?" Ji asked. "Happy meal!" Kevin, Mia, Emily, and Mike called out in unison. Ji turned to the cashier. "Four Happy meals please, two boys, two girls." She nodded and input the order into the cash register. Ji then let Jayden step up to the counter- he was old enough to order on his own. "A number 10..." he looked back at Antonio, who nodded. "Two number 10's, both large." He ordered. "Is that it?" The cashier asked. Ji nodded. "That'll be 17.49, cash or credit?"In the car, Kevin and Emily went right to sleep, Emily's thumb in her mouth. Mike fell asleep soon after that, and Mia put in headphones and closed her eyes. Jayden and Antonio were also out cold within half an hour. Right about the time the two teens drifted off, the Head called. This time, Ji put his phone on speaker. "How's it going over there?" The head asked. "They actually all fell asleep." Ji replied. "Even Jayden and Antonio." The Head chuckled. "They're not going to be easy to wake up." He said. "Even though they're teenagers, they do still need to sleep a lot." Ji didn't respond. "How far away are you?" The Head questioned. "Still about six hours." Ji said. He glanced back at the sleeping kids. "Hopefully they'll sleep the whole way." The Head chuckled. "Don't count on it." He then hung up.
The Head was right, Ji should not count on the kids sleeping the whole time. An hour and a half later, Mike woke. "Ji," Mike said, the high pitch of his voice very evident. "I hafta go to the bathroom." Ji glanced back at the boy, who had his hands between his legs. "We're gonna stop at a gas station in ten minutes Mike." Ji told him, but Mike frowned. "I hafta go now!" He whined. Ji looked out the window, there was nothing but forests for miles on either side. He looked back at Mike, who was starting to squirm. "Okay, okay." Ji said, pulling over. He then got out of the car and helped Mike out. "Go by that tree over there." Ji said, pointing to a specific tree. "Do not wander off." Mike, who still had his hands in between his legs, nodded, and went to the tree. Ji then turned back to the car and woke up Kevin. Kevin rubbed at his eyes with his small hands. "Kevin," Ji said softly. "Do you have to use the bathroom?" Kevin nodded, and Ji undid his seatbelt- why were car seat seatbelts so complicated? Ji helped the toddler to the tree where Mike was just finishing. "Help him if he needs it." Ji told the green ranger. Mike nodded and helped Kevin undo his zipper. Ji returned to the car and waited for the two boys to come back. When they did, Ji drove the ten minutes to the gas station. After filling up on gas, he ran the same routine with the girls. "Do you have to use the bathroom Mia?" Ji asked after waking up the ten year old. The pink ranger shook her head. "Well Emily does." Ji said. "Help her please?" Mia sighed, but got out of the car and went with Emily to the bathroom. Ji debated waking Jayden and Antonio, but he figured the two could wait, and wouldn't want to be woken up anyway. When Mia and Emily returned, Ji started the car and drove, prepared for the next four and a half hours of the trip.
