Chapter 13

Elizabeth's POV

Oh my god. Oh.my.god.

So I walk into the room thinking that only Amanda would be there but I find Yoandri, Joel, and Sebastian.

And to add on to the dilemma, my eyes are puffy, my makeup is messed up all over my face, and I'm sweaty. Plus I'm with Johann who is sweaty and bloody. How the fucking hell am I supposed to explain this?

Amanda's looking at me with her eyes so wide I wouldn't be surprised if they popped out of her head. Yoandri just seems completely oblivious to everything that's going on. Joel looks pissed and when I say pissed I mean pissed. Sebastian seems to be uncomfortable which makes complete sense. He doesn't deserve to be stuck in the middle of this, nobody does.

"I-" I have no idea what to say or do. What even is there to say?

"I'm gonna go." Johann says from behind me and opens the door.

"No I don't think you are," Joel shoots back. "You think you can just casually show up here after all these years and everything will be okay?"

I shut my eyes and shake my head hoping this could possibly be just a dream. It's not.

"Not here, Joel. Please, not now." I plead hoping he could just lay off for now and I could talk to him later in private. He seems to have forgotten that both Yoandri and Sebastian are still in the room.

Johann slowly turns around and smirks. "Listen to her, man. Not now."

"Um I think I should go," Yoandri suggests and Sebastian nods in agreement.

"Yeah, me too."

The two of them make their way to the door. "Look I'm not trying to make it seem like I need to know where you are at all times but a text would've been nice," Sebastian whispers. He's upset and that makes me upset.

"My phone died I'm really sorry." I reply and he sighs.

"Okay goodnight." He exits the room without another look back, Yoandri following suit without even saying bye.

"Hm they don't seem too happy," Johann smugly says. "Well the kid is dating you, poor him."

I roll my eyes and walk over to a very angry Joel. "Look I'm really sorry my phone died and I got lost," I tell him but he doesn't seem to believe me.

"Yeah that makes perfect sense, Elizabeth. You leave the hotel alone, your phone dies, and then you come back with him looking like you just had sex in the backseat of a car. Oh and may I add that, he's bleeding!" Joel shouts. I gasp, taken completely by surprise with his choice of words. I've never seen him this angry.

"Joel please calm down. I'm sure whatever happened has a reasonable explanation." Amanda calmly says trying to ease the tension.

"Oh of course there's always a reasonable explanation for everything." Joel shakes his head in agony. "Get out, Vera."

"Gladly." Johann scoffs and leaves the room leaving me there with my infuriated brother and puzzled best friend.

"Joel I know you're mad and I'm sorry, but I think you're overreacting a little. I can explain everything." I tell him and take his hand in mine.

"Trust me if you knew what I knew, you would know that I'm not overreacting." He mutters and takes back his hand.

"It's getting late. Goodnight to both of you." He sighs and heads for the door.

"Joel-" I call after him.

"Goodnight." He repeats and closes the door.

I stand there immobile, still in shock over everything that happened.

"Uh, I won't question you or anything right now because I can tell this is far more than enough, so why don't we just go to bed and unpack in the morning?" Amanda suggests after a few minutes of silence.

I don't say a word and just nod in agreement. She sighs and we make our way to the room. I decide to take a quick shower in an attempt to wash away some of the stress from tonight, but every time I feel like I'm getting my mind off the subject, I remember that this is only the beginning.
