Jason's pov

My Sargent gave me my tasks for the day so I got started filling canteens and loading guns before we go out. My best friend and army buddy Brantley walks over. "You ready?" He asks, nervously. Nausea settles in the pit of my stomach. "As I'll ever be, brother." We clasp hands as I swing my gun on my back. "Just survive somehow." He says. I force a smile and nod. "Just survive somehow." I reply. Then we both head off. In opposite directions.

Miranda's pov

I was watching the enemy troops drive out in their humvees. "Nice try but.... You're not going anywhere tonight." I whisper smiling and holding a control pad. I click the button.

Jason's pov

I was still staring at Brantley's humvee worried out of my mind for my brother when it explodes! I stand up and scream Brantley's name! Suddenly the Humvee in front of his explodes! Oh God! All the humvees start exploding then ours starts to shake. I grip the side as the bottom blows up from under me and I go crashing to the ground, painfully. "Ahh, oh God." I gasp, trying to move but the pain is unbearable. I think my knife stuck into my side in the fall. I hear footsteps. I focus in on a black haired Chinese girl! "They're blown up." She says into a radio. "We have a couple survivors." I hear laughing on the other end of the radio and she smiles. "Bring them in." My eyes go wide. She kicks me in the head, causing me to lose consciousness.

*later*

I groggily wake up tied to a chair. I feel someone tied back to back with me. "Who?" I mumble, trying to keep my grip on consciousness. "Jason?" "BRANTLEY!" I cry relieved. "You're okay." "Alive is a better word then okay." He says, groaning painfully. "What happened man? What'd they do?" I gasp. Suddenly the door opens. I come face to face with the Chinese girl. I struggle against the handcuffs and rope. "Man, when you're knocked out, you're knocked out." She says, smiling. "Jason, don't tell them anything! Whatever you do!" B gasps in a panicked voice. "Let us go!" I shout instead. She laughs and pulls out a gun. "Sorry soldier but I can't do that." She unlocks the handcuffs and unties me. I nervously stand up, keeping an eye on the gun. "Follow me." I don't want to. I glance back at Brantley. His eyes are wide, worried. "I won't tell you anything. You're wasting your time." She smiles and thrusts the gun in my back, making me bump into B. He drops an earpiece in my hand. "We'll see." I stiffen and walk with her. When she's not looking, I put it in my ear and cover it with my hair. We reach another room. She locks the door behind me. "Ok let's cut to the chase. I'm a prisoner here too! It's not just you." My eyes go wide. "Whatever she's saying it's a lie!" B gasps in my ear. Her eyes look panicked. "Then why'd you blow up the humvees." She slaps her forehead then looks at my vest. "Aldean, I have to do what they say. If I don't, they'll kill me!" She says. I raise an eyebrow unsure of what to believe. "She's lying Jason." B says in my ear. I don't think she is. I shakily and regretfully make the decision to trust her. I take the earpiece out. "Fine, but if you double cross me, I'll make you regret it." She closes the distance and holds a shaking hand out to me. "You have my word." She says. I hope I don't end up regretting this. I slip a hand into hers and shake it.
