Jason's pov

We were hiding along the wall. "They change rotations every half hour." She says, eyeing down the hall at the guard. I stop crouching. "I'll help you but you have to do something for me." "What?" She asks, glaring suspiciously at me. "You have to let my friend, Brantley go." Her eyes go wide. "I can't. He'll-" "Be set free or I ain't helpin' ya!" I gasp a little too loudly. "Shut it!" She gasps, grabbing my arm and taking off running. We run into a room, a small broom closet and it's very cramped. "You have to make a decision right here right now. Are we partners? Having each other's backs? That kinda thing?" I narrow my eyes. "Not until I know my friend is okay." "You're an idiot!" She snaps. I furiously grab her shirt and push her against the wall. "Look girly. You're the enemy! I might be making the biggest mistake of my life trusting you. I need to know you're not bullshitting me!"

Miranda's pov

Tears from fear come to my eyes. I try to pry his hands off me. "Please let me go!" I gasp shakily and scared. He slams me against the wall. "That's what I thought." He growls then drops me. I terrifiedly stare up at him. "I'm not your enemy! I'm a prisoner here! Just like you!" I cry, shaking. "I was snatched from my family and I watched the government blow them up. They forced me to come here and wouldn't let me go!" I gasp sobbing.

Jason's pov

Damn. I bite my lip. "I-I'm sorry." I shakily say, helping her up. She wipes her eyes. "I'm just a civilian. Brought here against my will." She whispers, her body trembling with each breath. I lightly brush my hand against her cheek. She looks up at me, tears in her eyes, leaving marks in the dirt on her face. "I'll help you. Partners?" She smiles and wipes her eyes. "Partners." We shake hands.

Brantley's pov

I hear the door open and I'm shocked to see Jason up and about. "What's going on?" "You're bustin' outta here B." My eyes go wide. He said you're. Not we!! "What about you man?!" He sighs and stands up, looking away. "I made a deal. Your freedom for mine." "J-Jason I can't let you do that!" I gasp shocked. "Dammit Brantley yes you are! You've got a wife and son to get home to! I have nothing at home! The army is my life. You get your ass back on the damn chopper and get the fuck home!" He screams. I'm shocked to see him crying. He doesn't think he'll make it out alive. "Jason, I can't leave you here." "You can and you will." He steps back and two guards come in. He looks at me sadly. "Jason!" I gasp, terrified. They force me out and Jason doesn't come with.

Jason's pov

"Ok I did your end of the deal, now you help me with mine." She says, staring hard at me. I nod. "What's the plan?" "We're gonna blow this place up from the inside. So they can't kidnap anymore innocent people." I'm nervous. "Just be careful." Her eyes go wide. "Why would you care? We're just working together." I shakily nod. "B-But I can't do this alone." She nods and takes off running down the dark empty corridor. Is that weird? I think I like her.
