Nova Attack

"Evacuate area, I repeat evacuate area. Nova attack," said someone over the megaphone," All cadets please head to the academy."

I ran as fast as I could to the academy and entered the training area.

Multiple others were already there and amongst them I saw Kurenai. Everyone chatting and gossiping madly when a bald man with blue eyes and a white moustache entered.

"Alright as you all know a Nova has breached the walls. But don't fear the Nova extermination squad has already detached troops to aid us all you have to do is keep it busy until they arrive. Being the best Tachibana will be your leader. Dismissed!" He said with an attitude only a true soldier could possess.

We quickly went to our EMA gears and suited up.

"SCORCH you ready for this," I asked while suiting up.

Many were having mental break-downs and Kurenai was one of them. I walked over to her and patted her on the head. She looked up at me with teary eyes.

"We're not going to die." She started crying and then hugged me around my waist.

"I'm scared."

"Oh come on we were trained for this. Tell you what when we come back I'll buy you some ice-cream."

"Really?"

"Sure."

Ugh, in attempt to cheer up my friend I ended up owing her something.

When everyone had their gears equipped we got into a formation Tachibana made.

Close rangers such as sword and pistol users upfront. Where I was. Assault rifle, smg and light machine gun users in the middle rank. Snipers at back.

We activated our thrusters and flew towards the threat.

"Snipers can you get a shot on him?" Tachibana asked.

"Yeah," Kurenai replied.

"Aim at his core."

"Kk."

They took the shot but the machine blocked it with his hand. The sneak attack failed he knew our location now.

"Fire at will," Tachibana ordered.

There was a barrage of bullets aiming at the 30 meter tall machine. It hardly did anything. A few of our own comrades were injured the bullet barrage.

Some seemed to be reloading but the machine took this opportunity and back handed them. That would have been instant death.

The snipers wouldn't let their comrade's death be in vain. They took aim and shot at its core. He used his other hand to block it. Some other sword users were rushing in but got caught by the machine's giant hans which was used to crush them to death.

"Damn it. We have to disable those arms of his," I said.

I flew towards the beast while he tried to catch me but SCORCH was built to avoid hits so I was giving him a hard time.

I managed to slice his arms a few times but it didn't seem to affect him.
The snipers took another shot at his core but once again the attack was blocked. He was whacking my team mates like flies.

"We can't win," I said.

I turned around to see other team members fleeing battle and Tachibana trying to round them up. I thought everything was over. I was about to get punched by the Nova when something sliced his hand off.

I looked up to see a man no older than 27 with white hair and red eyes looking at me. He was Alejandro de Tempesta. The Nova killer and a member of the Nova extermination squad.

"You guys did well but we'll take it from here. Go evacuate with the rest."

I didn't hesitate to do so. I was flying for about five minutes and turned to look at the battle. To my surprise the Nova was already dead. These guys are amazing.

Out of the 1673 people who participated in to the battle only 1321 survived. It was horrible. Many were grieving.

The hole in the wall would take years to repair so we were being moved to the strongest city during this time. Ignotia.
