Birthday gift

It was 31st of october just after midnight when i received this birthday gift.

"And there it was, your birthday! a gift for someone you haven't even met does sound weird. But then i couldn't resist the urge to make something for you and express my gratitude. what better chance than your birthday itself?
2 hours before the clock would strike 12 in your timezone,i had this incomplete sketch in my hand, half coloured, a little messed up, with dead hopes. I started a month ago. Yes, a month ofcourse, for someone who liked staying away from drawing and sketching all her life. A week for the eyes,a week for the smile, and yet it was worth all that because i never believed in buying gifts.
It was all going good until the satan in my mind said "colour it!", and then i ruined it. 2 hours to go and it was incomplete, until i got one last dose of hope again. That's what I had been learning over those months, not giving up, not running away...
And then there you go, i completed it before the 31st of October began in Perth.
I used to look at this and think, why did i choose this one out of so many other pictures? but now i know the answer. It was never about just you or or your smile. It has always been about the effect you have had on others. Like that little girl beside you who was too shy to smile; its about that smile that you don't just own but share with the world. And its about helping to gather messed up stuffs and dead hopes and putting them together in colours. I couldn't think of a better way to say thankyou

Left me smiling
