I grew up listening to his songs. His songs has always been a great motivation and source of positive energy for me and like any other fan I desperately wanted to meet him and thank him for those beautiful creations. Well, i did make it happen but it wasn't that easy.
Small story behind how i met Amrit Gurung :-
I was in Perth, living my busy student life. I knew he was coming there for concert. But,despite of my every effort to make it to the concert i couldn't meet my hero because of my work place responsibilities. So i had to miss his concert, which still makes me feel guilty.
It's not like i didn't try my luck, i went to his hotel and told organisers how badly i want to meet him but the event organisers played a perfect role to stop me.So, i waited that whole freaking day outside his hotel to try my luck but still couldn't make it.
So, the day arrived when they were all set to leave Perth. I found out that they were flying out that afternoon. So i gave all my hopes by then.
It was around 1 in the afternoon that day. I was just back home from a long tiring shift. But then i saw one guy's post on facebook that he is at the airport giving a good farewell to Amrit Gurung and team 'Nepathya'. The guy was among the organisers which proved it was all happening.
I had no time to react so i grabbed the first cloth from my wardrobe, quickly changed my drees and hit the road.
Airport was 15 minutes drive from where i lived. It's a shame that i broke few street rules and parked at illegal parking spot in front of the terminal. Luckily I wasn't fined because i have been working at the airport past 2 years and i knew very well how to deal with those situations.
So as soon as i got off my car, i started running. I wasn't sure where i was going or where they were but i was running. I kept running until someone stopped me from behind. And then came the moment i have been waiting all my life. Amrit Gurung was standing next to me. I went straight to him even though those event organisers were around and still playing their roles. But it was all happening. i grabbed his hand and never left until i was finished.
I was lucky that they still had an hour before they leave so i I as invited for a cup of coffee. Yes, coffee with 'Nepathya'.
It was one of the most beautiful 45 minutes of my life. He was exactly or more than what i expected him to be, very simple, kind and polite. We had a good chat about some of his favourite movies, which were from my favourite list too ; his interest for football and his young days. He even signed my flag which is still smiling next to my bed. And how can I forget this big hug he gave me before he left.
That moment I realised, it will happen if it has to happen. You should just believe in the beauty of your dreams, success will surely come to you.
