Black Diamond- Chapter 13
Chris.
"I know you haven't forgotten about me." My mom smiled as she opened the door.
"Not at all momma." My smile matched her huge grin as we embraced each other then I kissed her cheek.
"Don't just stand there bring your crazy self inside."
Moments like this made me miss the hell out of my momma. We walked inside of the quite house and I saw no sign of Maurice so my tensed up body started to relax. She took a seat at the kitchen island while I leaned up against it.
"Where is your husband?"
My mom smacked her lips. "Chris he's your father and he's working over time at work."
"I don't have a father." I mumbled under my breath, at least I thought I did until I felt her hand connect to the back of my head. "Ouch momma."
"Don't ouch momma me because yo' disrespectful behind deserved that."
I knew better then to argue about a sensitive subject such as that with her so I kept my mouth shut. No matter how low down and down right pathetic I thought my 'father' is I'll hold my tongue for now.
"I'm sorry."
"Mmhm I got your report card in the mail yesterday. How come you didn't tell me you made the honor roll?"
I shrugged, "Didn't think it was a big deal."
She lightly slapped my shoulder. "Chris, you know every thing you do is a big deal to me."
I laughed, "Okay remember that when I get in some trouble and you're yelling at me."
she smacked her lips with "You know what I mean."
I laughed then stole a cookie off of the platter that rested by my elbow. As I bit into the chocolate chip cookie I noticed my mom stare at me like she knew something I didn't.
"You are glowing Christopher." She beamed.
"Its this new lotion I've been using." I joked.
"What lil' girl out here actually has my baby smiling?"
"Momma you're over exaggerating."
"I wish I was honey but its written all over your face."
Lying to momma isn't something I could do because no matter how hard I tried she always knew the truth and the truth is I'm crushing on Shelby, hard.
"Who is she?" My mom pressed with a huge smile.
"Shelby."
Her mouth hung open.
"Crystal's daughter?"
I nodded.
"Chris she is gorgeous and she's an excellent student. Crystal showed me all of her awards and metals she won for dance and academics."
"Damn you act like she's your child or something."
She giggled.
"I'm just saying I think she's could be good for you, you know maybe balance your crazy ass out."
I chuckled shaking my head.
"Why don't you invite her over for dinner. I would love to know more about my future daughter-in-law."
"You thinking way too far in the future."
My mom and I talked for a little bit more then left and met up Mijo and Kenyon to play basketball at a small park.
