Black Diamond- Chapter 12
Shelby.
India stepped into the living room then took a seat on the couch. I wasn't sure what to say or what to do because this is the last thing I ever expected. The awkward silence between the two of us made me shift in my seat on the couch.
"Listen Shelby I know I can't tell you how to live your life but I know what Prince is capable of and I just didn't want you to go through what I'm going through." A single tear slipped down her cheek as she spoke.
"He's Prince's son?" I asked referring to toddler laying on her lap.
India nodded.
"He never mentioned he had a son."
"That's cause in his mind he doesn't have one. The day I found out I was pregnant and I had enough courage to tell him, Prince flat out denied my son saying I was with every nigga at school but when I had sex with Prince I was a virgin just like you."
"So you think...?"
"Oh honey I know. Prince can spot a virgin within a twenty mile radius. He takes pride in knowing he took some girls virginity then left them with no one."
"That's sick."
"I wasn't trying to tell you what to do because at the end of the day your gonna whatever the fuck you wanna do but when it comes to him just be careful."
I sighed.
"There's no need to worry because I won't ever be speaking to him again." I started picking at my nails. "India I'm really sorry."
She laughed.
"Don't be sorry. I should've never over reacted like I did."
"Its okay, If it makes you feel any better I don't remember half the shit you said." I chuckled.
"Bitch, yo' ass was too gone."
I covered my face with embarrassment then India's son began to squirm in her arms and he finally opened his big chocolate eyes. He is the cutest baby I've ever seen with his fluffy cheeks and adorable curly afro.
"Hi handsome." I smiled and waved but he shyly turned his face towards India's chest.
"Awe, what's his name?"
"Noah." India spoke as she rocked him.
"If you don't mind me asking how do you it with school and practice almost everyday?"
India sighed.
"Since my brother works nights he watches Noah while I'm at school then when I come home from practice he leaves for work and I'm in mommy mode." She giggled.
"Have you ever thought about asking Prince for help?"
"I've tried but he and his family make it seem like I'm a whore and has slept with any and everybody but I'm not." She began to cry.
I scooted closer to her then wrapped my arm around her shoulder. Noah looked up at his mommy and wiped away her free flowing tears. I felt so bad for her.
"What about your parents?"
"My parents kicked me out the day they found out I was pregnant. They said they could never love something so evil in the eyes of God."
I didn't mean to let my mouth hang open but how could anyone fix their mouths to say something so disrespectful. Yeah, having a baby out of wedlock is supposedly a sin but married or not a baby in my opinion is a blessing and when I have children I want them to feel like their special and deserve the best of everything.
