Chapter Twenty-Five
[Selena's POV]
I pull the car into the police station and find an empty parking spot just by the front doors of the building. After taking the keys out of the ignition I sit back in my seat. I rub my forehead with my hand as I watch police officers scurry around inside.
Taking a deep breath I step out of the car. I go to shut the door behind me but I suddenly become frozen in place.
Was I really about to do this?
After everything I've been through in the last three years, it's came down to this. Turning Justin over to the police. I knew the minute I had allowed myself to let him, a criminal, a murderer, in that I would soon regret it. And this was me regretting it, every part of it. But there was a part of me that thought maybe things would turn out for the better. That was until I realized this love story has no fairytale ending.
You're just going to throw away all the love you have for him away after everything you've done for him? my self conscious interrupts my thoughts.
If Justin can throw away everything that we had between us, then so can I. Two can play at this game, and I plan on winning it.
Slamming the car door shut I make my way into the police station. As soon as I take two steps inside all heads turn my way along with chatters being whispered throughout the crowd of working people. I faintly hear my name get said multiple times as if they were amazed that I was actually here.
"Miss Gomez," I look over to my right to see a detective that I recognized immediately. It was the man I had talked to inside the interrogation room after Justin had gotten arrested. "Follow me, please."
I could feel everyone's stares burning into my skin as I slowly followed the detective to his office that was in the back. All conversations would stop as I passed by the different office doors. When I looked their way they would quickly turn their heads and act like they were working.
Was I really that intimidating?
I'm guessing anyone would be if they were known as the world's most wanted criminal's girlfriend.
The detective opens his office door for me and I hesitantly take a step inside. "Please, sit down," he says, gesturing his hand over to the chair that was placed in front of his desk. I stay where I'm standing as the door closes behind us – a click getting heard indicating he had locked the door. He walks behind his desk and gets into a filling cabinet to grab a folder before slapping it onto his desk. His eyes meet with mine and a plasters smile was spread across his face. "It's been awhile since I've seen your pretty face. Quite frankly, I never thought I'd see it around here ever again."
"Well," I say, taking small steps towards his desk with my eyes remaining locked with his. "Here I am."
I pull the chair out a little and plop myself down. He snickers softly before he joins me in taking a seat in his own big chair. Making myself comfortable in the chair by leaning back I watch as the detective leans forward on his elbows on the desk. His eyes stare hard into mine in an attempt to be intimidating, but he doesn't phase me.
"Before we get to the basic questions," he starts, licking his lips. "You wanna tell me how exactly Jason got himself out of jail for the second time?"
"I broke him out." I admit with a shrug of my shoulder as if it was no big deal. I leave out Louis and Alfredo's name. The last thing I want is to bring them into this big mess, as if they weren't already dug deep in it anyways. "By the way, you might want to tell those guards that they should really have better look outs. And some better backups. It was far too easy sneaking inside and not getting caught." I pause as I chuckle softly to myself. "No wonder it was so easy for Justin to escape the first time."
