I flung back my bed covers as I heard mum's voice slowly crawling up to my room. "Latasha, hurry up and get ready - Ricky and Mason will be here in half an hour!"

Ricky and Mason were my two best friends, Ricky is fifteen, Mason is sixteen and I am fifteen - we're all in the same grade though! I dangled my legs out of my bed before slipping them into my slippers and pulling myself to my feet.  I walked over to my purple curtains and pulled them open slowly; squinting my eyes a little at the immense amount of light entering my room. I stared out there for a second after sharply realizing that Mason and Ricky were running up to my house, in some kind of race.

Shocked that they were here so early, I ran over to my closet and struggled into a pair of pale blue skinny jeans, a blue vest and pulled a baby pink hoodie over my head before shoving my hoodie matching-coloured high top Converse onto my feet. Shortly after, I heard a knock at my door. Shit. It was my two sexy best friends that everybody envied.

"Honey, they're here!" I heard mum shout after the front door being opened and closed. I ran into the bathroom and began brushing my teeth as fast as I could.

"Okay!" I mumbled through the force of toothpaste and a toothbrush. After I had brushed my teeth I began brushing my hair and decided to put it up in a scruffy pony tail to save time. I started hearing loud thumps on the stairs, that must have been the guys coming up to see where I was.

As fast as I could I ran into my room, applying a small layer of foundation, face powder and eye liner. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough because before I was finished my door barged open and Mason walked in, letting himself fall onto my bed, closely followed by Ricky who sat at my study desk.  "Hurry up, Cinderella." Mason laughed.

"Shu' up." I complained. "My name's not Cinderella, and as far as I know you're nearly half an hour early."

I stood up and made my way outside beckoning Mason and Ricky to follow. Like obedient puppies they came running after me. "Race you to school?" They both shouted in unison.

They honestly gave me no choice, they set off faster than lightening, leaving me running behind like a toddler after a professional footballer. When they got to the school gates they stopped to turn around at me, I had given up and started walking. For a second they stared at me with disbelief before Mason started laughing so hard. "You're crap at running."

I sped up my walking and punched him playfully in the arm. "Hey, shut up... I'm not much worse than you..."

They just erupted with laughter once again; it was kind of annoying me now, but I just sighed and looked down. Ricky went behind me and started pushing me into school before I actually accepted the fact we were moving and began walking. I lifted my head up and walked into school with Ricky and Mason. As soon as we got in Mason spotted a crowd, "Oh my god, a fight!" he shouted, smiling so much. He ran over to the crowd with a lot of people staring at him, concerned.

I laughed, and walked over to see what was going on. It wasn't a fight. Mason was an idiot sometimes, it was Kyra handing out invitations to her sweet sixteen. I was friends with her, but not best friends.

I pushed all of the little idiots who didn't stand a chance of an invite out of the way and stood in front of Kyra, fluttering my eye lashes. She let out a giggle, "You can have one Tashieboo," I hated that name, Tashieboo. "as well as Mason and Ricky." she said, handing me over three invitations. I hugged her tightly.

"Thanks Ky!" I pulled away and gave her a high five before returning to Mason and Ricky to give them their invitations. They snatched them quickly looking like excited hyenas. "No problem..." I laughed walking to English.
