Collège Françoise Dupont wasn't exactly a terrible public secondary school- in fact, it wasn't half bad. Not at all.

But (Y/N) being in public? Physically being in public? That was such a huge non, with the capital letters N-O-N.

Though, it didn't seem like she had much of a choice. After she failed her suicide attempt back at the hotel, Adrien was seriously determined not to leave her unattended ever again. Literally. Even during her trips to the bathroom, she'd spot him get up and stop whatever he's been previously doing just to stand guard while she was inside; and that's when she was inside the mansion. Oddly, she thought that his protectiveness made him a lot cuter, if that were possible.

And if it weren't Adrien, it was Chat Noir. He only ever appeared at night, his figure easily blending in with the shadows, green eyes glowing in the darkness. Her stalker was as beautiful as ever, of course- but he was starting to spook (Y/N).

Fortunately, those events turned out to be unconditional distractions, keeping her from thinking about her treacherous mom.

"You're sitting next to me, understand?" Adrien asked her for the billionth time since they last talked about her enrollment to Collège Françoise Dupont. Thanks to Mr. Agreste's courtesy, it was a piece of cake getting her accepted, just like Adrien had predicted. He and (Y/N) were cruising in the limousine driven by Gorilla, riding their way to school. It was the (H/C)-haired girl's first day busting out of home school, yet she felt like her first day here was going to be disastrous. Adrien's presence gave her a bit of comfort, yeah- yet, the air seemed to be perfumed with toxic.

(Y/N) nodded at him in confirmation. "Oui, oui, I understand, Riri. Sheesh, you don't have to get so worked up over lil' ol' me," she said, turning her head to gaze out the window. Hopefully the blush coloring her face wasn't obvious.

Adrien shrugged. "I have to, (Y/N). Because I care about you."

Because I care about you. that sentence tugged on (Y/N)'s heartstrings.

"Hmm~? Really, now? Do you care about me as much as you care about Ladybug?" she cooed, envy gnawing at her guts when she forced her voice to sound cheery. Mentioning the mere name of Paris's heroine took an incredible amount of effort.

He raised a brow, whispering, "Do you really wanna know the answer to that?"

She nodded, tearing her gaze away from the window slightly leaning in. Adrien help up two fingers. "Second word in the sentence."

At first, (Y/N) was dumbfounded by his response, until her mind fully registered what he said. Understanding dawned on her, and her blush darkened. "Oh." that was... unexpected, at the same time satisfying to know.

Her blond best friend chuckled, lightly nudging her side. His smile once again prevailed to send her heartbeat racing. "(Nickname), I don't think I could care about you any more than I do now."

'If only you cared about me as your lover, not as your best friend.' a small frown formed on her face, then it dissolved into a small smile. Him caring about you more than Ladybug would suffice, for now. . (Y/N) giggled. 'I love everything you do, Adrien.'

Even when he calls you fucking dumb for the stupid shit that you do. the voice in her head agreed.

Once they've arrived at their designated location, Adrien got out of the limousine first, then offered his hand to (Y/N). She looked up at him, delighting in the nostalgia. She missed being personally escorted by him. Gratefully, she took his hand, smiling. "Merci," she mumbled as he closed the door.
