[A/N: Brace yourselves, guys. Things are going to get a little bumpy...]
Eventually, (Y/N) had fallen to a fever.
Nathalie assumed it was because she lacked vitamin D; Mr. Agreste inferred that it was because her depression was worsening, thus she needed to renew her prescription for meds; Adrien thought it was because of that spontaneous nosebleed a few days ago.
None of them guessed correctly; Voron did.
I warned you about the consequences, he ranted, shaking his head. He was sitting on her nightstand, his most favored place to nestle on. Now look. You're half-dead, for fuck's sake.
(Y/N) groaned, wrapping her blanket securely around her famished form. As much as she wanted to tell Voron that he was wrong, he wasn't. After her foolish act of selfishness, the prolonged use of her powers while confronting Ladybug had drained an immense amount of her energy. Hence, she can't transform for a while.
You overestimated yourself, abusing the Queen of Hearts' abilities.
"You talk like you actually care," (Y/N) retorted.
The telephone rang beside\ Voron. (Y/N) dashed for it, swatting the annoying raven kwami away and picking up before the second ring dinged. She had a hunch who the caller was beforehand; hopefully she didn't guess wrong. "Hello?"
"(Nickname?" came Adrien's smooth, silky voice.
"Riri!" the corners of (Y/N)'s lips tugged to a broad smile - the first genuine smile she's ever had in weeks. "What's up? How's school?"
Seriously? "How's school?" That's the best you've got? Voron rudely interrupted; (Y/N) threw her slipper at him, but narrowly missed, accidentally hitting and breaking an expensive vase of Chinese origin instead.
Crash!
"What was that?" Adrien inquired on the other line.
"Oh, uh - Nothing! It's nothing! Probably a stray cat that sneaked in!" (Y/N) lied, laughing uncomfortably.
Adrien wanted to remind her that the odds of an outsider entering their home was highly unlikely, even for a cat, considering that its defense system was state-of-the-art, but decided to hold his tongue. He released a breath he didn't realize he was holding, and resumed their conversation upon remembering his purpose for calling. "Anyway, I talked to Father earlier. Told him that I wanted to help take care of you," he was practically beaming. "He says he'll clear my afternoon schedule for today." he grinned, forgetting that (Y/N) can't see him. "Which means, we're going to have a little play date. Like old times!"
(Y/N) couldn't believe what she was hearing. "R-Really?" she stuttered. "A play date? Just the two of us?"
"Yup!" Adrien chirped. "Just me and you, and you and me alone!"
'Yes!' (Y/N) giddily skipped around her bedroom in circles; then coughed, her muscles recalling the fatigue.
She could almost feel his frown through the phone. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine!" (Y/N) reassured; another lie. In her peripheral vision, Voron rolled his dark eyes, and she resisted the urge to throw her other shoe at him.
"Hmph. You better be! After all, I'm going to be the one who's going to cure you!" his adorable proclamation received a giggle from her. It was a sweet, innocent sound which soothed Adrien. It reminded him of their childhood, back when they were figuratively - and quite literally - inseparable.
