Everything just started to flash in my sight. I had my eyes closed, I was sure of it, but the flashes still appeared. And these were not like a flickering light, it was flashes of memories.

I could see so many images that appeared at the same time. I could the last time I spoke to my dad, before I walked out on him; I saw the time Ansel and I made that promise; I saw the time Ansel and I held hands for the first time; I could see my mother crying over the phone; I saw myself, completely oblivious of what was happening and what awaited for me... something I could never take back.

There were times that I would see my mom talking to me, crying, but I could not hear anything clearly; it was as if there was something blocked on my ear. I could feel the pain once more, but I was unable to move a single muscle. Then, I would see my father once more, smiling. And my vision shifted back to mom. But, this time, I could hear something. It was a man's voice, stating out instructions or something.

And everything just flashed to nothingness.

...

I opened my eyes slowly that it flutters from my attempt. Everything was blurred, I could not recognize a single face. Everything was so bright. I could hear a loud beep from my side, stopping and beating every other second or less. I let my eyesight slowly focus, until the images started to become clearer. I could feel someone holding my hand; I tilted my head to the side to see who it as, making sure that I would not strain any nerves.

"Honey? Oh thank God, you're awake," My mom stood up from surprise, I could see her tearing up.

I smiled sheepishly, still unable to gain enough strength to even curve he tips of my lips, and my voice was even worse, "What... happened...?"

"You... you were caught in an accident. You, uh..." Mom paused, motioning her hands frantically, "You were... in a comma. For two weeks."

My mom tucked my side bangs behind my ear. But somehow, I was too numb to feel anything.

"A..."

"What is it, honey?"

"An...s..."

"Oh," My mom shifted from a face of relief, to a face of disappointment. She sighed heavily, "Well... he couldn't stay long, honey. He and his dad went back to L.A. on the same day. I'm sorry."

I wanted to say everything was okay. I wanted to tell myself that it was okay.

But everything was definitely not okay.

The doors suddenly opened, revealing Ivan and Laura with a doctor coming upfront to me.

"Hello, Scarlet. Well, I'm glad you were able to wake up this soon," the doctor smiled.

The doctor took a few examines at me, like checking my heart rate, my blood pressure, and that thing where they let the light from a flashlight hit your eye or something, and more. The doctor also helped me on speaking a bit clearer, before he left the room.

"I'm actually surprised that she's perfectly fine. I mean, it's just so rare that people wake from a coma, especially from that state, with no complications, at all. Well, maybe just her speech patterns, but she'll get them back to normal. Just keep talking to her, and let her talk more often."

My mom sighed of relief, "Oh, thank you so much, doctor."

"See you in a few hours, Scarlet," The doctor smiled and waved goodbye, leaving the room.

After a second or two, Ivan and Laura started jumping around, screaming at the same time that I could not understand a single word they were saying.
