The five mile route I take exits the neighborhood near my house, cuts down the main road and then into the woods. I especially like to run in the woods during the fall because it's not too hot, and as un-manly as is sounds, truly beautiful.
Spencer turned out to be a very good runner. She definitely had the body type for it, thin all around, but with enough muscle definition to allow her to look healthy. She was also in phenomenal shape.
"It's pretty back here." Spencer ran along side me and jumped over a log.
"Yeah. There's a creek a little farther down if you want to keep going."
Spencer checked her watch, and shook her head. "I don't have time today." She followed me down the remainder of the path, which exited a half a mile from my house on the opposite side of the neighborhood.
When the road widened out, she jogged up next to me again. "Thanks for taking me."
"It was my pleasure. You're a very good runner."
She blushed a little, barley noticeable from her already pink cheeks. "Thank you. You are too. It's not common that I find someone who likes to run." We reached our houses shortly after.
"Do you take the bus to school?" I asked.
"No, I walk."
"Do you want a ride tomorrow? I drive my friends Liz and Jake to school every day, they live on this block too."
Spencer smiled. "That'd be great. Thank you."
"Were you in school today?" She shook her head. "That's weird. I feel like I've seen you somewhere earlier today."
She shrugged. "I don't remember seeing you."
"Oh! Were you at Anastasia's? That little cafe not to far from here?"
"Yeah, I was there at around 2:30."
"I think that's where I saw you. Jake's sister owns the place so we go there often."
Spencer smiled. "I see." She checked her watch again. "It's getting late. I have to take care of some things before tomorrow so," she took out her phone. "Will you give me your number? In case I need to get a hold of you?"
"Of course." I proceeded to give her my number. "Be outside at 7ish, okay? I'll see you tomorrow."
"Okay," Spencer smiled again. "Thanks for everything."
I jogged into my garage, shutting it behind me as I walked into the house. Spencer seemed like a really nice girl.
I was concerned about how Liz and Jake would react to her joining our small group of friends, at least until she found some of her own.
