Song : The Mountain Goats - Up the Wolves
I heard the door from downstairs closing with a noticeable force. I put on my shoes and started to make my way to the stairs. Once I reached the final steps I saw Ian looking at me intensely, starting from my face and going in quick procession through my whole body. If this had happened on another moment, I would say that he was checking me out but it was like he was checking to see if I was harmed in any way.
His eyes met mine and I stopped my descent. He made a move to come near me and I put one of my feet on the backwards step as if saying "don't come any closer". He halted and looked at my eyes again searching for answers.
"Are you alright Vivian? What did Leona say to you?" his tone was serious and his voice was tense.
"It's not what she said to me that should concern you but more like the fact you failed to mention that one of your matches is a member of this pack and to answer your question Ian, I'm fine but I'm feeling rather annoyed at the moment". I wasn't really interested in Leona per say right now. I wanted his reasons for failing to mention that bit of information about his past, especially if it came knocking at my door or his door to be more accurate.
He frowned a little and he seemed to be thinking about his answer which only added to my frustration about this whole incident.
"Honestly I didn't think that she would come to see you on her own especially since I have made it very clear that I was not interested in her anymore and that happened almost a year ago. I was going to tell you about her and you would certainly meet because she is a valuable member of my pack but you would meet her as my friend because that's all she is now and she knows this. I didn't see a point in telling you beforehand because her place as a match for me no longer exists" he never once broke eye contact with me.
Obviously she had a different opinion on the matter and now was as good a time as any to clear the air about the history of their relationship and the reasons as to why it didn't lead to a mating.
"Nevertheless she came to see me before everyone else so I would appreciate it if you explain it from the beginning" my words were delivered in such a way that revealed that I wouldn't walk out that door if this wasn't resolved right now.
"Everyone is waiting for us, it will have to wait until after the gathering" he wasn't so keen on this conservation, I could tell. My wolf was also annoyed by all this, a strange she-wolf claiming her mate was hers, one who had probably touched him in more ways than one and she too wanted answers while at the same time she wanted to rub her scent all over him, claim her territory and nuzzle his neck because she craved his smell. I also had the urge to come closer to him and feel his skin on mine. He looked good, dressed in khakis and a grey shirt with a light jacket on. Actually this was the first time I saw him in something else other than a suit, he had a more casual and relaxed look but I couldn't let that happen now, I wanted to know.
"We can be fashionably late and make a grand entrance, after all it is expected of us and I don't want all the details right now Ian " I tried to give him a subtle warning that I would not relent. He didn't get the message. He came in front of me in a flash, putting his hand on my waist and drawing me to his body. The extra steps that I was standing on gave me a considerable height and I was staring directly at his eyes.
"I don't like being argued on Vivian, I will tell you everything you need to know but after" his body gave off a rising of his dominant vibes but not so much as to be considered a threat, rather a stern reminder of who he is. I liked it, I hadn't felt his Alpha power directed at me until now and it was kind of exhilarating, my wolf shivered and I felt it as well. Too bad I wasn't done trying.
