Song : Tindersticks - Let's pretend
I was currently dipping my paws in the river trying and succeeding to scare its natural habitats, meaning I was playing with the fish. It was such a childish thing to do but neither I nor my wolf seemed to care. She had all her attention to them, trying to catch one of them and failing. She was excited to be out and about on a daily basis which made me all the happier for her since I had some remorse about not allowing her all the time she deserved in her skin the last years. She was always very understanding, for an animal I thought she was smarter than a lot of people I had met.
Ian took me out for a run the morning after the gathering. Running with his wolf was a different experience to every other run I had before. Being in wolf form meant that the true instigators of this bond had a chance to actually meet for the first time after the marking. My wolf was ecstatic to a point that I felt that I had to rein her in a little but Ian's wolf seemed to relish with her happiness. When he emerged from the trees on the back of the house, after waiting patiently for me to shift, he stood on his paws and his gaze seemed to take all of me in. I was a combination of colours, white snout and legs, back covered in black and grey that went all the way to my eyes and a little brown to my ears. We had seen each other once before but now we had a chance to really feel one another and my wolf did exactly that. She stepped up to him, wagging her tail with an extra bounce to her footing, I could swear that I saw Ian giving her a grin but he remained still for her inspection of him. She sniffed him all over and I had to pull her away from his genitals, refusing at least for now, that pleasure of hers because I would be mortified later when I shifted back. I was still clinging to the time I shared with the humans I suppose. She put her cheek to his and she rubbed her body all over his sideways, repeating this from the other side. Satisfied, she barked at him and sprinted through the woods, wanting him to chase her. She was fast and she wanted to show off, see if her mate could match her speed.
We sprinted though the trees, not knowing exactly where to go but we caught the scent of water nearby so we headed that way. Just as I was able to spot the lake ahead, my ears caught a movement to my right and I dodged left, changing course to avoid my pursuer. My reflexes were also fast, courtesy of my legacy and I ran a different route, hoping to avoid him, which I did but only for a little while because suddenly he ran into us, immobilizing us to the ground. His teeth were buried in our neck and he gave a playful growl, nipping our neck while he held us down on our side. I had never seen my wolf so happy getting caught by anyone. He licked her neck and he proceeded with the rest of her body, growling low with satisfaction when he sniffed between her hind legs. I guessed he didn't have a problem like me in letting his wolf get what he wanted. She whined to him to let her go so she could continue with her game and he responded with a low growl and a slight bite to her ears, telling her that he wasn't done yet. She relaxed after that and he rewarded her, letting her lick his snout. Once he was finished, he let her get up and he sprinted to the lake, making us chase after him.
We spent the rest of the time running and chasing each other while I was taking everything in. His territory was magnificent and I was enjoying the fact that I could wander around free without having any fear of humans seeing me or pack wolfs growling at me. It had been almost a year since I was back home and the freedom that an unguarded shift provided was greatly missed. When we got back to his house, he informed me that for the next ten days or maybe more, he would have to be away for the majority of the day due to him having to personally oversee the lumber mills. I was a little disappointed because I didn't exactly know anyone here and I was starting to think how and what to do with my time. Kenneth only came to the main pack on the weekends for the time being and I could barely remember half the names of the wolves that I met the night before.
