Below Deck

I walk down and as soon as I entered the eating area everyone got quiet. I gave everyone a weird look and they turned back around and continued to eat. I get my food and I sit down. "Nice attire." I look at Robin and laughed. "Yeah thanks." That's when I heard someone say something. "Now we know who Emma's favorite is now." "Hey respect your captain Pete" says Mr Fitz as he continues to eat. Pete nods. I sat there quietly and started to eat. "What the heck, did you sleep with her that she gave you new clothes?" I laugh and I raise my eyebrow. "Come on Robin you seriously think I'm that easy?" He laughs. "Well the captain is beautiful I mean gorgeous so I thought..." My laugh interrupts him. "Yeah she is and no I did not sleep with her." That's when we hear a loud noise and everyone jumps I right away thought of Emma and if she was ok. Mr. Fitz quickly got up. "I'll go and check." He walks up and since he doesn't come running back down in a hurry it means that everything was ok. "You reacted a little fast there Lover boy" says Robin in a mocking tone. "I see you keep being royalty no matter where you go." I gasp and hit him. "Robin shush!" "Sorry I forgot" he says and continues to eat. Mr. Fitz walks back and takes a bowl of hot water and bandages with him and everyone is just quiet. I wondered what happened that he had to take those stuff. Robin sighed. "I wonder what's her story has she always been captain." Everyone started to murmur and someone gets up and walks over to us. "Oy you're going into treacherous waters boy." I gasped. "Has she always been this mean yet nice at the same time" asks Robin with a curious look on his face. I mean don't get me wrong I wanted to find out but I don't know, I would rather her tell me then finding out on my own. "Well boy you see here she was not always the captain of this fine ship. She became captain after that horrible day well actually that's the day we all became pirates" said another man as he was chugging down a glass of rum. I gasped. Someone hit him and he spat out the rum. "Gosh be quiet you know she doesn't like us talking about it." I stayed quiet. "Anyways it's not bad if we talk about her days as Lieutenant" someone says and everyone nods. "You see hear she was not always this mean she was actually a really caring and thoughtful woman and she rode alongside Neal Cassidy who was captain of this fine ship when we sailed under the Indian flag and when she sailed as the Binding Sea. Oh those were glorious days." "So you guys were all sailors before becoming pirates?" I ask curiously. Everyone nods. "Anyways yeah she was Neal's right hand and boy were they a great team, it was awesome sailing under their command" said another as he leaned against the wall. Robin and I were just in shock. "Then one night a tragedy happens and well things led up to us removing our flag and sailing under the Crimson flag and her named changed to Black Shadows" said another. I gasp. "After that night something in her changed and she became captain" said the other. "Yeah and from the day on she became..." And Mr. Fitz walks in and scoffs. "She became what Luke?" Everyone got quiet and he walks over to the sink and scoffs. "That's what I thought." He sighs. "If the captain wants them to know her story she will tell them when she's ready the only reason you all mutts know is because y'all were there" says Mr. Fitz as he was dumping some water out. I looked at Mr. Fitz as he was dumping the water away and the water was red as can be. Blood. Was she hurt or was it something else. Well the captain is a woman maybe it was the other thing. I shook my head and said to myself yes it was that I doubt she would have gotten hurt. "Well hurry and finish eating mates we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow and y'all need sleep." "Aye Mr. Fitz" replies everyone. Mr. Fitz walks by and I grabbed his arm and whispered "is she ok?" He nods and smiles. "She's ok." I nod and smile. "Thanks." He smiled and walks away. Robin smiles. "So you don't care about the captain you say?" I scoff. "Bug off Robin." He laughs. "Bro you got it bad" he says as he shakes his head and walks away. I laughed and thought to myself maybe I do, maybe I don't but knowing how unpredictable she is; she will probably treat me like crap tomorrow. I didn't care though because seeing how nervous she gets around me when we're alone means that she is attracted to me. I laughed and I put my dishes away and made my way to my bunk.
