Hawkmoth stood in his lair, the silence lingering over him like a blanket.
His cover had been blown, but only to one person. That wasn't what bothered him. It was the fact that Chat Noir was his own son, and he couldn't get answers out of him without hurting him.
And he couldn't hurt his son.

In time, however, Adrian would understand why he was doing this.

Adrian was currently lying still in the corner, his wrists chained to the wall and still unconscious. He'd be mad when he woke up, but soon he'd accept the truth.

Hawkmoth pulled out his locket, examining the image of his wife. "I'll find you, Marissa... I swear I will find you."

Once he had his son and Ladybug's miraculouses, he'd have all the resources he needed to find her...
If only Adrian trusted him enough to tell him where he'd sent his kwami.

"Not yet." He whispered. "Soon, but not quite yet..."

Adrian stirred as something brushed against his cheek.
His entire body hurt, but especially his head, and every movement felt like he was swimming in molasses. Faint whispers reached his ears, and every once in a while, he'd feel a fleeting movement brush against him.

He finally opened his eyes, only to find his surroundings nearly too dark to see anything. The only clear shapes were the tiny, glowing akumas that had yet to be corrupted...and used to corrupt someone else.

"Where am I...?" He whispered, looking around. "Where did you bring me...?"

"Somewhere safe, I assure you, Adrian..." His father's voice answered. "The akumas seem to like you."

"That doesn't mean I-" Adrian paused as his movements were accompanied by clinking metal. "You...you chained me up...!?"

"Only to keep you from hurting yourself."

"Or escaping...!"
Adrian looked away as his father came over, flinching as his hand was placed on his shoulder. "How could you...!?"

"You'll understand why I'm doing this soon enough."

"Just leave me alone...!" He curled up in a ball, closing his eyes and hoping this nightmare would end.

It was several hours before Plagg was healed. Marinette knew she'd have to go home soon or her parents would worry.

Alya sat in an armchair, writing down everything she was learning about the kwami magic.
"I promise I won't tell a soul, Marinette." She said.

"Good, because this is too important a secret to tell."
Marinette turned as she heard a soft moan, and they all bent down as Plagg stirred. "Plagg?"

"Ugh...! My head..." He looked up, then jumped. "W-Woah! P-Personal space here!"

"Sorry." Marinette apologized as they pulled back a little. "You said something about Chat being in danger?"

Plagg slumped. "Yeah...Chat Noir..."

"Please, start at the beginning, Plagg." Tikki cooed.

"We were hanging out, and then Hawkmoth...Chat told me to run and find Ladybug and..." He rested his head on his knees. "...I let him down. I should've stayed and helped him fight him off, or escape, or...something!"

"You did as he asked." Alya reassured. "You think Hawkmoth's hurt him?"

"He wouldn't. He..." Plagg hesitated. "...He wouldn't hurt his own son."

"Hawkmoth is Chat's father...!?" Marinette gasped. "That's terrible! He always mentioned how his father hardly ever spent time with him... Now he knows why."

"Marinette, it would seriously help the search if we knew who Chat really is." Alya explained.

"But... But we promised to never reveal our secret identities to each other!" Marinette cried. "I don't wanna break a promise!"

"I'm sure Chat wouldn't mind if it meant finding him and stopping Hawkmoth..." Tikki murmured. "You wanna help him, right?"

"Y-Yeah..." Marinette took in a deep breath, closing her eyes. "Just tell me...!"

Plagg nodded. "...He's Adrian Agreste."
