Confirmed! Hawkmoth's Next Move! How he was going to akumatize his own son...
The headlines were all over town the next day, but Adrian wasn't aware of it. He'd passed out after the peacock holder had arrived, and was now lying still in his bed.
A familiar voice reached his ears, and he slowly pulled out of deep sleep. "Nnn...Plagg...?"
"You're awake...that's good."
Adrian opened his eyes, seeing Plagg and his father's kwami sitting on the side of his bed. "Mmm...how long was I out of it...?"
"About twelve hours..." The other kwami replied. "Plagg was really worried, he even refused to eat any cheese!"
Adrian sat up, grimacing as his side throbbed. "Don't get up too fast! You bruised your ribs with that hit, and it'll take time to heal.""So it wasn't all some bad dream..." Adrian sighed. "...My dad's a criminal."
"I'm afraid so..." Plagg settled on his lap. "But it's not all bad. Your-"
The two kwami ducked under the pillow as the door opened, but came back out as someone unexpected entered the room.
Adrian could only stare as his mother, who'd been missing for years, entered the room. "Mom...!?"
"Hello Adrian..." Mrs. Agreste sat down on the bed, her smile sad. "I'm back."
Adrian took her hand, gripping it tightly. "Can...Can you never leave again...!?"
He ignored the pain of his injury to hug her. "Don't leave me again, mama...!"He'd never cried in the presence of his father, never letting the stress of his life show, but now he wept into his mother's shoulder as she rubbed his back.
"Never again, Adrian... I swear." Mrs. Agreste replied firmly. "Leaving my little boy was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but no more. I'm never going to leave you again...!"
Adrian's tears eventually dried, and he sniffled as he looked up at her. "Why'd you leave in the first place...? Father wouldn't have become Hawkmoth if-"
"Your father was going down a dark path long before I left, Adrian... I never thought he'd go this far, but I knew it wasn't safe for me to stay..."
"You didn't take me with you...?"
"Oh darling, I wanted to! But the Great Guardian told me that I had to leave you behind... So you could protect the city from your father's schemes."
"The Great Guardian...?"
"You know that old man who you helped that first day of school?" Plagg asked. "The one who'd fallen and couldn't reach his cane?"
"Yes... Was that him?"
"Uh huh. He is the one who protects and hands out the miraculouses to their holders. That fall was a test of your character, to see if you were worthy to be my partner."
"L-Ladybug, is she-"
"She's fine. She and the Great Guardian are downstairs drinking tea, as matter of fact."
"...can I speak with her?"
Mrs. Agreste smiled. "Of course..."
______________________________________Ladybug sat in the chair, sipping the tea Mrs. Agreste had gotten for her. "This is all so... So strange and sudden." She murmured.
Master Fu nodded. "But the threat of Hawkmoth is over... I also heard you had some extra help show up last night."
"Yeah, those other two seemed to have this whole hero-thing figured out a long time ago... I didn't know there was a snake and skunk miraculous."
"Guarded by another, I presume..."
Ladybug nodded in understanding, then turned as Mrs. Agreste came back with Adrian, Nooroo and Plagg. "Adrian... You're awake."
"Yeah..." Adrian murmured. "... Thanks for the rescue, Ladybug."
Ladybug grinned. "No problem... Chat Noir."
Adrian smiled a little. "So you figured me out..."
"Actually..." Ladybug blushed. "...Your kwami told me to help us find you and Hawkmoth."
"Oh... Well, then I guess that's okay too."
Ladybug stood up. "But... I think it's only fair that I show you mine."
Adrian shook his head. "You don't have to-"
But Ladybug was already morphing back to her civilian form. "Under the mask... It's just me. Marinette."
Adrian stared for a moment, then shook his head. "How could I have missed that? I mean, you both had the same hairstyle, for Pete's sake!"
"See, Adrian? I... I'm nobody special."
"You must be special, or else you wouldn't have been chosen to be a superheroine." Adrian took her hands. "Or chosen to design Jagged Stone's album cover... Or that derby hat design contest...?"
Marinette blushed, then facepalmed. "Duh! Both you and Chat are allergic to feathers! How did I miss that!?"
Adrian chuckled. "So... Got any plans for this weekend?"
Marinette blushed more. "You mean- Yeah! I mean, no! I don't have pants- I-I mean plans! Do you? Cuz I totally understand if you do. I mean- oh man...!"
"Aww!" Tikki complained. "You were doing so good, Marinette!"
Then she herself gasped as Plagg flew over to her."You don't have plans either, I assume...?" He asked slyly.
Tikki smirked and pushed the cat kwami back. "Oh please, like I'd go out with a guy who smells like stinky socks!"
"It's Camembert cheese!"
"Same difference."
Marinette giggled, then took a deep breath. "No. I don't have plans."
"Good. I'll come by after school on Friday and we can play that video game your dad's been raving about. I'll totally skunk ya."
"In your dreams!"
