Now that Conny felt her mom and step-dad hated her, she wanted to go back to Jem. " I'm gonna go for a walk, too cool down." Conny said, "Be back by 5:30, ok?" Her mom replied,"Ok." then, Conny was gone, she ran too the tree house. When she finally got there, Jem was gone, all her things were gone, it was empty and silent. "Wh-wh-where is she?" Conny said aloud as her voice started breaking. She saw a note, it read,"Dearest Conny, I am sorry, I knew you would come back for me, I will miss you and think of you every day, I am sorry, Love Jem." Conny didn't understand, why, why would Jem leave, was it for Conny, or for her.
"I'm home!" Conny yelled. The house was silent,"Hello?" "Surprise!" Her aunts, uncles, cousins, mom, and step-dad yelled. "Wow thanks, I didn't expect this." She said. "Well, um...I'm really really tired, thank you really, but maybe we should celebrate tomorrow, I am so sorry, I just, it's hard to explain." "Of course dear, you are still getting use to everything, this shouldn't be rushed." Hank said, he also called her dear, Conny blew up. "I told you to never call me dear! You aren't my family!"
