Gavin's POV.

Ever since the incident, I've forbidden the other kids to play in the Beta's yard. But, that didn't mean I wouldn't linger there sometimes. At night I would circle their house, smelling, sniffing for any intruders such as Cameron. I know Beta James knows that too, he knows what I do at night, but we never speak of it. He just gives me this look and nods his head. I look the other way, escaping from his gaze. Yet, that never stops me from coming back.

Ebony's POV.

"Why does he do that? I don't understand," Mama exclaims to Daddy as he calms her down. "Our house doesn't smell like us anymore, it's filled with the Alpha's son's odor. I don't like it. Stop him, make him stop." She cries into Daddy's arms.

"Why is Mama crying?" I ask as tears prick my eyes. I tug on Daddy's shirt and Mama's dress to get their attention.

"Your Mom's just worried right now. And emotional" Daddy says and tucks Mama under his chin. I stare at them and my hand releases it's grip.

I find myself unable to hold on, the strength gone from my fingers. They began to drift away as I witness their love.

"Shaila, don't worry about it, it's not going to hurt anyone so there's nothing to worry about." Daddy whispers to her, Mama nods her head before hugging him.

I walk away to my front door. I look out the side window and peer through. I see nobody there; my hand shakes as I grasp onto the door knob. I hear the tiny clink as it unlatches and drifts open. I take a hesitant step away from my safety. My body trembles as I walk outside. I began smelling around the yard until my nose catches onto a strange scent.

Intruder.

Is this what Mama's crying about? I look around the dark setting and a tingle crawls up my spine. I watch the swaying trees for a second before following this intruding scent. I circle the house several times, trying to gather as much detail as I can. I'm trying to print this smell to my nose. There's one distinct fact I can gather from the rest. Male.

Gavin's POV.

I slip through my window as I do every night and slide off of my roof. I run down the very long street to the Beta's home. The very last house with the biggest yard everybody favors. As the Alpha's son, I have the authority over anyone younger than I within certain boundaries.

Once in the yard, I quickly detect a different smell. I sprint to the source and find Ebony curiously sniffing a leaf from a tree branch. Every single time I say or think her name, a bolt goes through my chest.

I take a step forward, "My name is Gavin Stark." I introduce politely. Ebony jumps and whirls around. Her eyes dart all around for an escape route. This is my only chance to speak with her, hopefully I won't fail. "I don't mean any harm." I gently say before sitting down, submitting to her. If my friends were to see this, I would be called a pathetic Omega.

Ebony lowers her guard, it seems she likes me like this. She shuffles forward, her nose poked out towards me. I hear her sniffing as she comes closer. Ebony presses her nose against my shirt and sniffs. I sit perfectly still as she examines my smell, unknowingly deciding if she approves of me yet.

This is basic Mother Nature. The female picks the strongest male, even though she doesn't know this herself. She sneezes and scrunches up her nose before backing away some.

"Ebony, my name is Gavin, I'm eleven years old, how old are you?" I introduce again while trying to get her to speak.

"Eight," Her voice is so soft and small, I barely even catch on. Her one word makes a tsunami impact on my life though.

At her innocent gaze and precious voice, I know that will control me entirely. I'll bow down to her for the rest of my life. I'll kneel before her and beg for forgiveness when I make a mistake. Kiss her very toe as a sign of loyalty. And submit to her every wish like an Omega would. I may be the next ruler of this very pack, yet she is the Goddess to us all.
