Gavin's POV.

After that night, my life has changed ever more so. Ebony is my main priority. I feel as though I have matured within an hour of meeting her. Her safety, comfort, and everything is the most important thing in my life.

Ebony's dad lets me inside now and I visit her everyday. During school I anticipate for the day to hurry and at sunset I mourn for it to stay frozen. The three hours I have with her is not enough, all I ever wish is for time to become slow, just long enough for us. I wish for everything now it seems.

Ebony sits on the couch watching tv. I slowly slide down next to her. She turns and gives me a glance before returning her attention back to the movie. I watch with her and we enjoy our time together contently. And by the time she's fallen asleep, I have to go.

As I'm walking home, I glare at the sky. Although I do believe I have to protect her, I also miss my old life. I miss hanging out with my friends and sports and rough housing. I miss a lot of things, but she is worth the sacrifice.

When I walk through my front door Mom greets me. "Even though you hang out with her for the rest of the day after school, you still wake up in the middle of the night, crawl through your window, and circle the Beta's house. Why so?" She bluntly questions me.

My heart beats rapidly in my chest. And the only response I can give her is, "protect," she looks baffled.

I sprint upstairs to my room and turn on my light. Then I grab my book, switch on my lamp at my night stand, turn off the light, and crawl into bed. I read my book until my clock strikes twelve. I put my book up, switch off my lamp, and close my eyes. I sleep for two hours before waking up. That's when I crawl out my window and run to her house. I smell around for any unwelcomed intruders. None are here tonight.

Ebony's POV.

"Grin preciously, smile knowingly, laugh hysterically.....!" Her voice drawls in a low pitched squeak. Her eyes enlarge as she presses her face towards mine. "Make him happy! Give him everything! Worship forever! And only then he will not beat you raw! Only then he will be nice. Only then he will kiss your brow! Only then he will take care of you!" She cries with her hands covering her face.

I can make out the bruises of a curled hand around her arm. I can see the green and purple and blue and yellow and black colors. I can see chunks of her hair missing. I can see her dull eyes fill with hope. And I can see everything else......

"Ebony, wake up." I startle away from the abused wife. She is another ghost, just trying to be seen.

"Another dream?" Mama questions me with her hand on my shoulder.

"Yes," I answer with a nod before getting up out of bed. Mama calls them dreams. I call them visits. And Aunty must of called them warnings if she could.

"What was it about?" Mama asks with a slightly sad smile.

"Aunty," I say while walking to the bathroom. Mama follows me and stands in the door way. I grab my tooth brush.

"Which aunt was she? Was she Aunt Molly or Aunt Nan?" Mom asks me calmly while I put tooth pace on my toothbrush.

"Aunt Jennifer," Mom gasps and her hand clamps over her mouth.

"How do you know who Aunt Jennifer is?" She asks with tears building up in her eyes.

"She was warning me." I mumble before brushing my teeth. I scrub them for two minutes and spit.

"What was she warning you about?" Mama questions after I'm done with my teeth. I grab my hairbrush and begin brushing.

"Uncle Davey." I mutter and grab the stool so I can see in the mirror.

"Why, why was she warning you about him?" Mama asks me, her voice pitches higher and faster.

"Because he killed her." I dismiss and hop off the stool as I finish my hair. I put everything away and walk out of the bathroom. Then I get dressed in my room.

Hi I know this chap is short, but oh well it's an update. So yeah that's all I've got to say.
