Amy was fast asleep next to Rory in bed. They were peacefully dreaming of the many adventures they've had with the Doctor. Now they were back at home...
"Home" sounded like a strange word now to Rory. It felt so distant even if they were sleeping inside of their home. Rory was not in as deep of a sleep as Amy was. He was almost awake.
Rory breathed in slowly. He was dreaming about the time when they were in Venice. Rory's first time travel adventure. It was (technically) the night before his and Amy's wedding. Rory wasn't very close to the Doctor at first. He was jealous of the Doctor. He thought that the Doctor would steal Amy from him. The night before his wedding.
To be fair, he had a good reason not to like the Doctor. The only girl he had ever loved was distracted by someone who was cooler, more attractive, and a lot braver than him. But Rory soon became friends with the Doctor. They became very close, in fact. Amy might have been jealous of their relationship a couple of times...

But Rory continued dreaming of the terrifying fish-vampire-things in Venice. But his dream quickly turned into a nightmare when the Doctor was impaled by some sharp object by one of the fish people.
Rory jumped and sat up immediately when he woke up, breathing quickly and hard. He shook the bed when he sat up, causing Amy to groan and roll over to face Rory.
'Sorry, go back to sleep,' Rory tried to catch his breath. 'It was just a nightmare, I'm sorry.'
Amy's eyes fluttered open. 'What was it about?'
'Nothing,' Rory shook his head, lying back down. 'It's just silly. Nothing to worry about.'
'If it frightened you,' Amy said sleepily, 'then it's worth worrying about.
'It was just about the Doctor,' he said. 'The Doctor was killed. But it was just a dream.'
Amy caressed Rory's cheek. 'That's right,' she whispered. 'Just a dream.' She kissed him on the forehead. 'Go back to sleep.'
Rory smiled at Amy before closing his eyes. But he had difficulty going back to sleep. His dream was so terrifyingly real that he couldn't get the image out of his mind.
Rory opened his eyes to see his red-headed wife sound asleep again. He smiled. They had come so far from the beginning. Rory thought he was going to live a normal, happy life. But instead he gained something greater. He and his girlfriend had met an alien with a time machine that took them to the past, to the future, to different worlds. He was the one who had brought them closer together. If it weren't for the Doctor, they wouldn't have had a child either. Even if their child, Melody, was taken away from them, raised to kill the Doctor, and was their childhood best friend that turned out to be the Doctor's wife, River Song.
They were happy now. That's what matters.
