Lucy Blue

Didn't I warn you about Lucy Blue?
She bites, she stings
Heed this warning, for it’s true
“Don't go near Lucy Blue, or she'll get you.”

But the girl went to Lucy Blue, heart a flutter
And she felt as though she might melt like butter
“hello Lucy Blue” she cooed, filled with delight
Lucy seemed to give her no fright

Lucy turned to her
“haven't you been warned of all the trouble born by me?
You should be scared
I can't see why you even dared to speak to me you must be impaired”

“no no” cries the girl, ready to start a quarrel
“You’re a wonderful girl!
With your beautiful face, you’re in your own race!
You’re better than they say
I just wish you could see it the same way…”

Lucy Blue turned her face
And left without a trace
No way could her words be true
Those words couldn’t be about Lucy Blue

Esteem is a two way street
It’ll beat
It will raise
it’s all summarized in a single phrase
“that can’t be true”

Absolute narcissism and crippling self doubt
It makes you want to do more than just pout.
Lucy Blue is just a girl
with thoughts that quarrel
Her depression would make her crash
She’ll be gone in a flash...
We all know a Lucy Blue
If you don’t, then perhaps look at you

Days later she saw Lucy Blue
She had something with her too
“Lucy Blue!” She cried
And ran to her side

Lucy was cold
Somehow she looked so old
She was tired from facing fears
And her eyes were filled with tears

“Blue, is that you?” The girl cooed
Lucy didn’t speak, she didn’t even squeak
“Lucy, look at me”
When no response came, the girl let out a plea

“Lucy, why can’t you see?
You’re just as good as me
Those words may burn and sting
And i know why you wear those rings.
The monsters are gone
You’re great, and that’s why i fawn
So please, let go
I’ll protect you, don’t you know?”

Lucy looked to her in shock
And her world seemed to break and rock
To know that someone would care
It was too much to bare

“Dear, i want you to run
Just run, run, run, cause being near me would not be fun
You won’t undo what they’ve done to me
So please, please, please listen to this decree
You only love yourself
You don’t really want to give me help
There’s no Lucy Blue in your little lie
There’s only “me, myself, and I”
So please, leave me alone
Because I’ll hate you if you won’t
If you really care about me
Then leave me be, Marie”

Marie stared
No, no, she glared

“Lucy, you know why I try?
Because i know you’re insane like me
I know you’re in pain like me
We’re a mess…
And we’re distressed
So don’t give those lies
Get rid of this stupid disguise!
You may hate me today, you may hate me tomorrow
But do you really contain all this sorrow?
If you really know what you need
Then make a choice,"

"You or me?”
