"You're kidding me."
"Uh I wish."
Stella took both of Brielle's shoulders and shook them hard, causing Brielle to be slightly nauseous.
"Oh my gosh! Why were you a mermaid during then?!" She squealed in panic.
Brielle held Stella to stop the shaking and coughed, "Remember when I went back to our sea-city right after school ended? Well right before I left was when the incident happened."
-
"Hey Julius! Can't believed you downed that many beers!"
"OOhh yeaahh, I just felt like cutting loose. We finished our first year of college!"
"Woah, Julius careful. You're getting too close to the cliff."
"Pfffttt, don't worry! I have always been the sober buddy. I can handle myself dru-!"
"JULIUS YOU IDIOT!"
Brielle immediately looked to the overhanging cliff behind her where a male voice could be heard shouting and caught sight of a brown haired male falling down from the cliff. The other male from above was clearly distressed, shouting for help.
The problem was that this was a private beach and not many people come around here. The two probably rented a beach house for beach week or something. She could see the male running from the cliff, most likely to get help, but it would be too late by the time the paramedics get there.
"Guess I will be back at home by night..." Brielle thought to herself as she dove into the water.
She blinked for a couple second to adjust to the wetter environment, then her eyes caught sight of the male, who was quickly sinking. With a quick kick of her fin, she propelled toward the male in distress. He was a lot larger than her, luckily water has no effect on how heavy someone was most of the time. She grabbed underneath his arms and quickly swam to shore.
"I hope I am still good at CPR as I used to." Brielle thought to herself as she laid the poor guy on the beach. He didn't seem to pack a whole lot of muscle like the guys she would see occasionally while she strolled on the beach, more like the boy-next-door type of guy who many girls would probably fight over for. She quickly shook her head. Now's definitely not the time to have thoughts like those.
Brielle quickly put her hands on his chest and began chest compressions. With no response, she quickly took a hold of the male's head and chin and opened his mouth.
"You better live, I didn't train in first aid for nothing," Brielle muttered as she took a deep breath and proceeded to give him air. Still no response. Once again she took in one more breath, this time putting as much force as she could in order to get his chest cavity to visibly raise.
Finally, the male began coughing up the water. Brielle sighed in relief till she saw eyes that matched the color of the ocean. Quickly regaining her composure, she knew she had to flee or else this little rescue would become a lot more complicated.
...
Julius coughed as he fluttered his eyes open, his eyes were met with mystifying brown ones. However, once he blinked once more those eyes from what he believed to be his apparent savior disappeared. He closed his eyes once more, feeling weak after the turmoil.
Was it from the shock of drowning or did he see a purple fin swim away?
-
"You kissed that cutie?!" Stella shrieked as Brielle winced from the high pitch.
"I didn't kiss him. I just gave him CPR. Clearly you have been watching too many chick flicks lately," Brielle replied as the two were now watching a movie in her room, clearly Stella wasn't going to go home this late at night.
Stella was busy texting all their other sisters about the potion mishap and they all seemed to comply with the deal in getting all the ingredients. However, many of them are across the world and it's definitely going to cut it close to the hundred day deadline.
"How are you guys going to gather everything in time?" Brielle asked, clearly uneasy about the whole situation.
"Brielle, relax. Everything is going to be finee. Madame Lillian probably has at least fifty percent of the ingredients and then we will just get the rest. This time grabbing a whole lot so it can last for a while," Stelle grinned as she hooked an arm on Brielle's waist.
"I don't know about that..."
Stella looked to Brielle as she could clearly see the distressed look on her face and then an idea came to mind.
"I got it!"
"Got what?" Brielle asked, giving Stella a weird look.
Stella entwined her hands with Brielle's and pulled her up from the bed as she jumped up and down excitedly, "Get Julius to fall in love with you! You practically saved his life! Plus since he's living with you, it wouldn't be that hard for him to fall in love with you! Since you have another extra room, I can crash for the summer and help make the potion and play cupid! Plus, I definitely think you can't survive when you bathe now since you're not impervious to water anymore."
Brielle frowned, that's right... Before the potion she help make with Madame Lillian a few years back that prevented merfolk from reverting back when touching water, it took all the sisters a long time after they showered just to be able to be human again and that was also with the hassle of having to drink that potion every ten months in order to not become a full mermaid again. It wasn't until maybe a year or so that Brielle was able to perfect the potion that now everyone around the sea wants: to become a human with no consequences, just a reversing potion fixes everything. Brielle knew that she should've just shared her potion sooner to other witches from each sea. It wasn't till just a month ago that she released the news that it can now be made and bought from every sea witch. The witches are probably still cultivating the ingredients as they speak. The potions took a full year to perfect with the specific ingredients too.
"Yeah definitely need to stay. I sure can't survive a shower without someone... But why do I have to fall in love?" Brielle whined.
Stella raised an eyebrow, "Um, cause why not? Kills two birds with one stone! You can become human and not worry about becoming seafoam and Dad will probably be ecstatic to find out that one of his talented daughters has a boyfriend!" She pointed out. "Plus he's pretty cute if I say so myself," She added.
"Why would he like someone like me? I have barely gotten myself out there in the social life since I was so busy with juggling with college and dealing with volunteer at the marine life rescue center. Not to mention I had to deal with the constant calls and messages from all the witches of the sea about the potion," Brielle countered as she sat back down on the bed, pulling Stella with her.
Stella branched out on the bed, once again wrapping her arms around Brielle's waist, "Aww, don't be such a debbie downer. All the guys back at our land-city loved you! Every guy practically wanted to be your prom date but you were clearly too busy with your jobs," She comforted as Brielle smiled.
"Okay, I will think about it. But for now, let's just aim at being friends, okay?"
"But-okay fine. But remember, a hundred days!" Stella warned, earning a smack from Brielle.
"Of course I know, because someone decided to buy one of the obviously discontinued potions."
"Haha... Sorry."
Brielle grinned as she grabbed the covers and pulled it over the two, "Okay, let's get back to the movie. Clearly we are missing a lot of it."
