"I don't say I have the voice of an angel but I wasn't sounding like a dying horse."

"Si ma! Voy a estar bien, no te preocupes. Te voy a extrañar. El avión va a llegar a las 7, me llamas entonces. Te amo ma! (Yes mom! I'm gonna be good, don't worry. I'm gonna miss you. The plane should arrive at 7, you should call me then. I love you mom!)" My mom nodded. With tears brimming in her beautiful deep brown eyes, she responded, "Yo se mija. Cuidate y al rato te hablo. Te amo mas! (I know. Take care and I'll call you later. I love you more!)" I hugged her tightly and moved on to my dad. "Well then dad, I'm gonna miss you a lot and I love you. Don't worry I'll try to call you at least once a day but I'm not sure. Just know I'll be safe. Love you dad!" He hugged me and whispered, "Make me proud! I love you too." I nodded. "Well then you little bum holes, I'm gonna miss y'all too! Don't worry I'll still bother y'all somehow!" We laughed. "Okay, just make sure y'all are ready to come over for spring break. I'll show y'all around, okay?" They nodded. I hugged them both just reaching their necks, since they both towered over me. Both 5'8 and me 5'2. My older brother at 23, and my younger brother at 17. I gave my final goodbyes and went my way to board the plane to London.
As I sat down on my window seat (score!) I put my ear pods on and played my music. Finally time to relax. I buckled up, and put my neck pillow thingy. Comfortable and relaxed. I had no problem whatsoever, wearing Caleb's, my best friend, school sweatpants, my Back to the Future shirt and his hoddie paired with my white converse, while traveling, especially a 9 hour flight. Either way I wasn't gonna give his clothes back even if he was gonna live with me, since he decided to take a year off before college. I closed my eyes and began remembering last night's party.
Flashback...
"Remember, no boyfriends, no fiancés, no husbands whatsoever for the next 2 months. Got it, Bella?" my best friend Charlotte, or Charlie as I liked to call her, said. I laughed, "Yes mother! Don't worry girl I'll be waiting for you during Thanksgiving Break, ready to go party!" She nodded. "Fucking right! C'mon girl! Free flight and stay for a week in a new country, with my beautiful best friend? Wouldn't miss it for the world!" She hugged me. "By the way Caleb might be there just thought you should know, but he won't bother us." She nodded. "Aww! I wish we could go with Charlie and visit you!" Lucy said. Yeah's were heard from my other best friends, Emma and Phoebe. "I know guys, I wish y'all could. But you know how y'alls parents are with family celebrations, especially yours Em. Don't worry I'll send gifts back with Charlie." I smiled and hugged them.
Back to the present...
Ah I was gonna miss my wonderful best friends. Charlotte, the girl at 5'2 with her very flirtatious personality, Emma, also 5'2, with her sweet personality, Lucy at 5'1 short self always so adventurous and lastly Phoebe, at 5'2 and 1/2 with her shyness. All of them with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. We could pass for sisters except for Phoebe and Lucy since they both had very curly hair, unlike Charlie, Em and I, with straight ish, wavy hair. I was leaving my family and friends. But thank god I was leaving the U. S., most specifically, Texas and its weather! More like bipolar weather, the one thing I was grateful about. With that, I fell into a deep slumber.
I awoke with a sudden slap to my face. 'What the fuck?' I asked myself, I curled my toes and opened my eyes and sharply turned to my left, scowling at whomever. 'Who the hell woke me up from my amazing sleep? Don't people know never to wake me up?!' "Oh my god! I'm so so so so sorry! I didn't mean to hit you at all! Please forgive me!" The guy next to me kept rambling with apologies. I bit my lip, but the laughter erupted from my mouth. It was just too funny. His face flushed and showing guilt suddenly turned into one filled with confusion with his eyebrows scrunched up. "I- I'm so-sorry!" I calmed down since I couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't even say a whole sentence. I breathed in and out. "Okay, I'm sorry. Its okay, I'm fine I was just startled that someone would just hit me out of nowhere and wake me up." His face suddenly returned with guilt. "Oh. Yeah sorry, I truly am so sorry. I was trying to open my bag of chips and I couldn't so I tried harder and when the bag did open my hand went towards your face and I was left with no chips." I looked down and saw that there was a ripped bag and chips in our laps and on the floor. "Its okay... except for losing all your chips. I'm sorry for your loss." I pouted. He laughed and I smiled. He then asked the flight attendant for a bigger bag of chips for us to share. "Here let me," I said, opening the bag with ease. "So what's your name?" I asked stuffing some chips in my mouth. "My name's Cody. Yours?" "Isabella. Nice to meet you." We kept talking for the rest of the flight, which was another 2 hours. I learned he was also going to London School of Economics and Political Science to study for law while I studied for management and sociology. He was from Houston as well, but he went to Reagan High School while I went to High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. I went to HSPVA only cause my parents thought I could sing. I don't say I have the voice of an angel but I wasn't sounding like a dying horse. There I learned to play the piano, guitar, and dance. I can't complain because I loved it there. Once we landed we exchanged numbers and decided to hang out on Wednesday.
'Where is my apartment?' I asked myself, frustrated. 'It said it was on Wild Street. Hehe, wild. I need to stop. Am I simply just blind? Cause it says this is Wild Street.' Gah! I haven't even started college and I'm already ready to give up. Great! Shaking my head I think of how pathetic I might look. An 18-year-old girl, long brown hair and deep brown eyes that changed with the lighting, paired with light olive skin, at 5'2 petite frame, just standing in the middle of the street with suitcases on each hand walking all around the streets. I must look like a total foreigner. Not that I wasn't one, but I wanted to blend in. Well then task number one of moving to England has failed. Well there goes your future, Isabella. Can't even find your apartment.
When I finally got to turn on the street, there I saw the big ivory and maroon exterior. And there in small words it read, Covent Garden. Well? How do you expect me to find the apartment when it is written in small letters only at the entrance of the building? Is this common? Are they playing simply cause I'm not from here? Nah, they wouldn't be that clever... no offense! *cough*Caleb*cough*
Caleb's from Cornwall, England. That place was a beauty! I don't even understand why he would ever leave such a lovely place, but it wasn't really up to him since his mom decided to move away after her divorce. She is such a sweet woman I don't understand why her husband would cheat on her- okay no, stop! I'm distracting myself. Anyways, I always joked around with him cause sometimes he would talk some shit that didn't make sense. Other, more common times, his ideas would not be clever at all but I still loved him cause he was like a big brother to me.
And there I was Isabella O'Brien, standing in the middle of the street, staring absentmindedly at the walls looking like a dumb fucker to the pedestrians passing by. 'Uh I think it's time to go check in and see the apartment. Ah finally I just really hope college isn't filled with drama, I mean four years of high school drama free, I think that might be a world record. Let's call Guinness... Later, I'm too lazy right now!'
