"The usual?" My best friend Lola asked me as I took my usual seat at the bar. She was currently bartending at the pub, it was by far her favorite task.
I always came in on saturday nights to keep an eye on her, saturday night crowds were pretty rough here. It wasn't that she was a pushover by any means, she just wasn't much of a fighter. So on saturdays, I was here to have her back.
Not that I had to do much else besides just being here, that was usually enough for people to behave. At least for the locals and regulairs it was. Over the years I had acquired the reputation of being a crazy woman and some had even gone as far as shouting at me to disappear from town.
I couldn't say that I didn't get where they were coming from. I was pretty closed off, did some very stupid things in the past and I just wasn't like most people. for most people it was apparently tough to deal with people who weren't like the norm.
Last week however, it turned out to be a good thing that I was at the bar. A guy bothered Lola for quite a while and when she told him to leave, he tried to force himself onto her.
Men were pigs, I knew that better than most. I was even at the point where I stopped questioning 'where all the good ones had gone'. The good ones were apparently not meant for me, or at least I thought so.
Needless to say, I helped him to find his way out the hard way. If it hadn't been for all the martial arts lessons I had as a kid or the gym sessions I had at least three times a week at this point in my life I wasn't sure I would even be able to kick a guys ass. I was glad I did have those though.
"Yeah, the usual is fine." I nodded at her before scanning the bar to see who was in here.
There were Jeremy and Todd, two brothers who hung around here all the time. Senna, who always tried to get laid by one of the 'hot' tourists that passed through and decided to grab a drink. Steve, the never ending complaining customer and two men, who had just entered as I got my drink, that seemed to be tourists. The tourists seemed like the business types and one of them had already been here the week before.
Much to my, and I guess pretty much everyone else's, surprise, the men walked over towards me.
"Miss, do you have a moment?"
"That depends on what you want." I looked at them sceptically.
"I saw how you handled that guy last week so we have a business offer for you." The man who had already been here said.
"Sorry, I don't take any illegal jobs if that's what you want."
"Oh no no no." The other man quickly cleared up. "We work for the WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment, have you heard of it?"
"Stone Cold, Taker, Stratus? Yeah I've heard of it, been going downhill as of late from what I heard."
"That's kind of why we're here..."
