Doc kicked and flailed as he soon began to sink to the bottom of the river. He had almost ran out of air when someone grabbed his shirt.
No, no, no! Please tell me a zombie hasn't caught me! Please, please!
He thrashed about wildly as he tried to see the figure next to him. He saw a blur of red.
"Foxy!" He gurgled. The powerful swimmer hoisted Doc up to land where he gasped for air. Foxy began to cough up blood.
"N-not..... *cough* again.....*gasp*" Doc heared his savior say between coughs, jaw hanging loose.
"Foxy are you alright?" Freddy asked worriedly, pausing from frantically trying to dry himself. The fox held his chest and shook his head while he gagged on the red liquid.
"Do me... a favour matey and learn how t'... swim." Foxy wheezed to Doc. He turned on his side and coughed up part of the zombie's skull and pieces off wood from the tree that had fallen on him a couple of minuits ago. "W-where be Bonnie and the lass?" Foxy collapsed. Freddy put his towel around his friend's shoulders and sat him up. Bonnie dragged himself and the girl over to the pirate to show that they were safe.Chica noticed that both Foxy and Bonnie's batteries were damaged. At least the backpacks that they were in were waterproof. Foxy reached into his chest through a tear that had been there for years and pulled out a big piece of blood stained wood. He then tried to repair his jaw.
"I recon we're safe. I don't think the zombies can swim either... yet." Doc looked over to the other side of the river as the brain-dead zombies seemed confused as to how to tackle this obstical.
Foxy recovered quickly and soon was back to his old tetchy self. They all decided to build some kind of shelter to rest in for the remainder night. They tossed ideas back and fourth.
"How about we sleep in the trees?" Said Chica. Doc shook his head.
"Too exposed."
"Make a big shelter made of twigs?" Rachael offered.
"I guess that could work..." Doc ruffled her hair.
"How 'bout we build an underground chamber?" Foxy thought aloud.
"Like a rabbit warren!" Smiled a happy purple bunny.
"Aye, t'would be harder fer the zombies t' find us 'nd we could have multiple exits." The others nodded approvingly."Dig mateys! Imagine we be searchin' fer treasure!" The pirate grinned, thankful that he could interact with children once again after being 'out of order' for so many years. Freddy noticed his friend's high sprits and that made him happy as well.
They all stood back for a moment to admire their handiwork. Doc left the children to sleep and went outside.
"What are you guys doing out here? Should'nt you be sleeping?"
"We're the night protection droids, silly!" Chica replied.
"The irony!" Bonnie giggled. Then they heard screams from inside the underground chamber...They rushed inside to find Rachael crying.
"I h-had a nightmare..." she sobbed, burieing her face into Freddy's fur.
"Hush now, child. Get some shut-eye." Foxy soothed, stroking her chestnut brown hair. He began to sing a lulaby, tweaking the words of one she may have heard before."Hush little pirate don't ye cry,
Or else the zombies will stab ye in the eye.Don't let the enemy see ye afraid,
Or else they'll gut ye with a rusty blade."Maybe we are seeing a gentler side to the pirate's rough nature.
