I uploade TWO chapters today (because they're both so short!), so please go bac and read the other one first and then this one :)

Chapter Fourteen

The wind blew my chestnut hair around my face. I squinted against it and saw Asteria mounting a horse, Henry already in front of her. She quickly galloped to catch up and they rode away.

I spun around and jumped on the nearest horse to me and even though I had never ridden one before, it felt completely natural. I urged the horse faster and faster until I caught up with Asteria and Henry.

Henry’s face sent a new burst of rage through my body. His eyes were stormy and angry, but also had a gleeful glint in them. Asteria’s face on the other hand, looked years older than her actual age because of the fierce worry etched into it.

I rode my horse close to Asteria’s and when the distance was small enough, I jumped off my horse and onto Asteria’s slipping into her body.

I can only imagine what Henry’s going to do with me, Asteria thought. I bet he’s going to kill me. I was shocked to hear that inside Asteria’s mind. Although I could tell it was laced with worry, she wasn’t as scared as I’d have imagined her to be.

Henry’s horse stopped in its tracked and Asteria’s copied it. Henry jumped off his black stallion and walked into the forest, not helping Asteria off her own horse. Asteria scrambled off, falling on her bottom. She hurried to her feet, wiping the dirt off her and following Henry.

“You’re leaving,” Henry stated bluntly.

“What?” Asteria cried. How in the world was a ten-year-old girl to survive all by herself?

“Obviously I can’t have you living in England where you can tattle on me!” Henry scoffed. “It would be ridiculous if I let you stay. No, you’re going to live somewhere far away where nobody will ever find me.”

“When am I leaving?” Asteria asked in a heartbroken whisper. She was thinking about her parents and how they were about to lose yet another child, just after they lost their first.

“A ship is coming in the morning to take you to Mont Saint Lucerne. You are permitted to take a few families along with you to start up your own civilisation on the island, but you will all be trapped on there.”

Asteria’s eyes filled with tears. “Why are you doing this? I thought you would kill me, Henry! Why are you being… kind in a way?”

Henry sighed and massaged his temples. “Despite what you think, I don’t hate you personally,” he said finally.

“Nice to know you don’t hate your own sister,” Asteria said bitterly.

“I don’t hate you, but I hate what you can do,” Henry said in a tone that made it clear the conversation had ended. Asteria nodded and went back to her horse, riding back to the castle.

I hope this place –Mont Saint Lucerne – is liveable. I hope I will be safe there, especially from Henry.

Pretty please comment!
