"bye, mom, bye dad!" riley called out to her parents as she walked to the front door of their apartment with a heavy backpack around her shoulders and a suitcase in hand.
"bye, sweetie!" topanga said as their daughter opened the door.
"don't do anything stupid, now!" cory lectured her one last time before she giggled, rolled her eyes, and walked out the door. she closed it and walked down the stairs where her best friends, maya, lucas, and farkle were.
the three were going on a road trip to california, all the way across the country from greenwich village. it's going to take hours and hours, but it's a great way for the friends to bond and spend time together all cooped up in lucas's car.
"you ready for the drive of our lives?" farkle asked his three friends as riley walked over to them. "what do you mean, farkle?" maya asked him. it's just a regular road trip, what could possibly make it the 'drive of their lives'?
"i haven't slept all night because of this," he told them, making hand gestures. "and my warm milk train didn't even help for this one!" farkle was rich, so it was certain he would have a train for something. riley giggled at this.
"get to the point," lucas said as he led the three over to the front of the apartment building to his car. he got a red mustang for his eighteenth birthday last year. he was the only one out of the four that actually had a car. the others learned how to drive, but they don't have cars. farkle didn't need a car. he had a helicopter and it was awesome.
"alright, alright," farkle said and rolled his eyes. "i made up a game last night, and it's going to be big!" maya rolled her eyes. "so, tell me if this is genius or not but..." maya and riley and lucas looked at him anxiously. farkle was terrible at sports, and they were going to be stuck in a car for at least two weeks. what game could farkle possibly make up that's going to be 'big'?
he paused. "since this is a really long drive that'll take hours to full on days, we're obviously going to need to take food and gas breaks, right? so every time we hit a gas station, one of us switch driving with another person." he explained to them. the three other teenagers looked at him blankly.
"okay...?" riley said slowly, her brows furrowing in confusion as the four stopped their tracks in front of the car. "what does that have to do anything with changing our lives because of the trip?" she asked. maya nodded in agreement.
"but, there's something else," farkle said. "every time we switch, the new driver has to confess one thing to a person in the car. it can't be little like riley stealing maya's brownies or something like that, it has to be big. friendship-changing."
"farkle," lucas breathed. "we can't do this. it'll affect our friendships."
"well too bad!" he exclaimed. "we're doing it anyway! lucas drives first, then maya, then riley, then me. boom shaka laka!"
and they got in the car.
