"Oh my Lord!" I shrieked, making him swerve a bit. We were driving towards the old drive-in movie down on Third.
"What in the-"
"I love this song!" I turned the dial on the radio up until September In The Rain permeated every inch of his car.
Luke gazed down at me once it had finished. "Your voice is beautiful." I didn't think he could hear me singing along.
I shook my head. "No it's not. But I sing anyway. Music is art. It comes from your soul, not your throat."
He smiled softly. "I like that." Geez he had no idea what that smile did to me.
"You know, I'm glad I was forced to go to your concert."
His face went expressionless. "Forced? You don't..." He cleared his throat. "You don't like my band?"
I raised an eyebrow at him, tilting my head to the side. "Look, you're wonderful, but you're about as deep as a kiddie pool. That song, it's saying something. It means something."
He frowned, staring ahead at the road.
"What, is this a new development in LukeLand?"
"I can be deep," he pouted.
"Really? Because your hit song talks about underwear." He rolled his eyes. "Change my mind. Say something profound to me right now."
He gave me a deer in the headlights look. "If you're so wise, why don't you say something deep?" He pulled up to a stoplight.
I placed my hand on the side of his cheek, gently turning his face so he'd look at me in the eyes. "Your eyes are the ocean and I wanna drown."
"I hate that you can just do that."
