Present day.

I smiled briefly, reflecting on how beautiful the past is. "Alright," I said, pushing my chair out and standing up. "There you go." I started to walk out of the living room.

Grazia wiped tears from her eyes. "What? No, come back."

I furrowed my brow. "Story's over."

"No! Did you heal from your mom? Did Dante have more nightmares?" She grabbed the collar of my shirt. "Tell me, Grandma!"

"Dear God, you're vicious." I smoothed out my shirt. "You can figure it out. You're here, aren't you? We got married, had your mom and her siblings, and she had you."

She smiled. "So what does it all mean? What's the moral?"

I thought for a moment. "Life is tough. Really tough. So tough that you might feel like giving up or start thinking that you can't go on. But you will make it. Stand up for what you believe in. If you don't stand for anything, you'll always fall for something. Live while you can. Because the moral of my story is that it does get better. I promise."
