"Click 'Upload'!"
Annabelle, Serena, and I sat on my bed in front of my laptop. We just finished cutting down to the last twenty-five girls after nearly three hours. All we had to do was upload their names and those would be the girls to show up tomorrow. The final day.
"To think we started off with over two hundred girls and now we are down to twenty-five!" Annabelle nearly screamed.
It was really cool to think about, but I couldn't help but feel bad for the other girls.
Serena took the laptop from me and clicked the button to upload the names. No going back now. I could imagine the girls crying because they didn't get called back, but I didn't want to think about that. This wasn't an easy thing to do, but traditions had to be upheld. Hearts had to be broken, and it never felt good.
"Now that that's done, get out of my room so I can sleep."
Annabelle rolled her eyes and got up to leave the room. Serena turned and stopped before closing the door.
"How are you so...you?" She asked me, jokingly, but also serious.
Lying on my bed, I just looked up at the ceiling and couldn't help but force a laugh.
"It's all an act, Serena. I deserve an Oscar," I said in my best impersonation of Judy Garland, giving a bittersweet smirk at the end.
She walked out and I was left alone to think about Harry at the party tonight. It was too weird, him not liking me. All the guys on campus liked me, not to be conceited. Most of them didn't even know me, just saw me as an object of interest. It had to do with my mom and her whole legacy. But Harry... He wouldn't even give me a second thought. It's not like I was into him... Tattoos are not my thing, but still. There was something about wanting what you can't have...
I closed the book in my lap and rubbed my eyes. Glancing at the clock, I realized that almost two hours had passed since Annabelle and Serena had left my room. This past year, I'd been finding it harder and harder to keep time straight. It would simply lose me, and I never cared.
Groaning, I turned off the lamp beside me and went to bed.
Nobody would be arriving until this afternoon. It was nice to be able to walk downstairs in my pajamas and not worry about a time crunch. I could hear the sound of muffled male voices. A couple of the girls must've brought a few of the frat boys home last night. Oh well, girls would be girls.
In the kitchen, Louis and another guy were standing by one of the third-year girls. Even though she was almost twenty-one, I still had authority over her and could see the intimidation in her eyes as I walked in. I didn't have anything against her. We were all sisters in this house. She's just a slut. She went off toward the other boy and Louis remained in the kitchen with me.
As I grabbed a banana from the counter, I felt his arms wrap around my waist and he ran his hand up the side of my thigh, making his way to my chin. He let his lips linger right over mine.
