Daryl's POV:
Denise finishes fixing me up, the adrenaline from earlier finally wearing off. Abraham walks past me and nods to me. "Anyone see Shannon?" I ask to the few people in the room. I turn and look at Denise, who already turned away and she shakes her head. No one else answers and my heart rate picks up. I stand up quickly, accidentally knocking down a metal tray of supplies. "Anyone see Shannon?!" I dodge out the front door to the handful of people out there. They look at me with emotionless faces and head shakes. I scowl past them, beginning my search of the bodies on the ground. I get through a few dozen before Deanna's son walks towards me. He stands a few feet from where I am and just stands there. I grow impatient quickly "what ya want?" I yell over, lifting another female body up to inspect it.
"Shannon's not here" he says to me.
"what you mean she's not here?" I look up momentarily and notice his expression. It's as if he's worried about her and I stand up straight now "how ya know this?" I step closer, angry he knows something about her that I don't. I don't give him a chance to answer and grab him by the collar and pull him closer to my face.
He tries to pull himself back but doesn't look away "I've been lookin' for her all night, she's gone" he explains.
I release my hand with a jerk, pushing him away from me. I tilt my head to the side, moving hair out of my face to get a better look at him. "whats it matter to yew?" I ask him.
He puffs out a breath before responding "she's a friend" he says, holding something back.
I feel something dwell up inside of me. I don't know what it is but I don't like it, and try to ignore it. "She gotta be here, she wouldn't just leave" I mutter back, moving again to look at the bodies.
He shakes his head, stepping in front of me "there's something else."
I wait for him to say more, but he hesitates "spit it out!" I demand.
"Clint's gone too" he says quickly.
"What?!" I scream out, not wanting to believe what I heard. He repeats it back to me and I shake my head not accepting it "Naw, he didn't even know bout her" I say back.
"They ran into each other the other day." he says. This boy is starting to piss me off, knowing these things about Shannon. What the hell is his name again? How does he know all this? I think to myself while staring him down.
"It's Spencer, right?" I ask him skeptically. He nods confirming his name. "Tell me everything" I command.
He explains Shannon was trying to find somewhere else to stay and that when she went to Denise's house he answered the door. He continues talking but my mind goes elsewhere. Why was she trying to stay somewhere else? I try and refocus again "She was a mess" he says "but she eventually didn't care anymore, and wasn't going to hide. I lost her during the attack last night, she ran off and I haven't seen her since." he finishes.
"And yer sure Clint ain't here?" I ask.
"Yea, even his friend don't know where he's at" he answers me. I storm past the pretty boy to find Rick. He has to know what's going on. I find him sitting at Carl's beside. The boy has woken up but is weak, he's whispering something to his dad and I wait awkwardly at the door for him to be done. I'm glad he's okay, I don't know what Rick would have done if he lost him. He barely made it through the loss of Lori. "Rick, I need a minute" I confide to my friend.
Rick nods without looking at me and stands up slowly. He kisses his son on the forehead, who accepts it willingly. He follows me out of the room and down stairs into the living room. By now Spencer is also there waiting for us. I keep my eyes averted from him, and stop in the middle of the room "what's going on?" He asks, his eyes sunken in and tired.
"She's gone, Rick" I say.
"Who? Shannon?" He asks, I don't know how he knew who I was talking about but I nod back. "I'm sure she's around here somewhere." he says back "Wasn't she staying with you Spencer?" he looks over my shoulder.
I tense at his words, the feeling from earlier coming back to the surface. I scowl in his direction, wanting him to respond with a no. "Yea, but she didn't come back" he shifts his weight between his feet "Clint's gone too" Spencer adds on the same way he did for me earlier.
"Shit" Rick responds, looking back to me "how did this happen?" he runs his hand through his hair.
"I don't know" I stammer back "he wasn't spose' to do nothin' till I got back" I tell Rick.
"Well, he went off his plan. You knew that was a risk" Rick tells me.
I walk to the wall and slam my first into it making a hole. There is no pain connected with it but blood stains my knuckles "what are you guys talking about?" Spencer asks, stepping closer towards me.
"back off" I push him backwards.
He steps closer again though "what did you do?" he yells, getting in my face.
I've had enough of this prick and use the same fist to punch him in the face. He stumbles backwards and on his ass and I chuckle. He quickly gets up and lunges at me, bringing us both onto the floor. He lands a punch to my lip but I punch him in the rib. Rick is standing on top of me now, pulling Spencer off of me with a yank. "Knock it off." he commands, keeping himself in between us. I snarl at the young man whose glaring back at me, blood running from both our faces "This won't help her" he explains.
"You're right, I'm sorry. I just don't know what to do" Spencer tells Rick, standing up.
I lift my hands from off the ground and stand up as well "I'm gettin' her back" I say simply, staring at the man she's been spending her time with before walking off into the house. I ain't gonna appologize to him when I'm not sorry.
