Our Secret

Daddy showed me a game
When I was just a small girl
It was to be our secret
Because I was daddy's little girl.

I caught on to it very quick
And got toys when I did well
I learn to not cry or whimper
Because mommy couldn't hear

I learned to hate the game so
But knew better than to fight
I would always be daddy's little girl
And this would always be our secret

Daddy upped the game constantly
As I grew older and wiser
But I couldn't tell a living soul
Or it would be game over for me

Toys still came every now and then
But not the kind for little girls
I dared not cry or whimper
Because he loved that too much

I couldn't take it anymore after a while
I knew the game had to end soon
Not by him but me
So I washed the house with gasoline

He came that night to play
But this time I put up a fight
And by lighting a match
I took our secret to my grave
No one else would know his game
