Sunsets, Beaches, and Ice Cream

Castiel looked over at his best friend, Dean. They were sitting on a blanket on the beach, watching the sun set over the water. He was absolutely mesmerized by the sight of Dean, with his freckles, his hair a golden caramel with bits of brown, and his sparkling emerald eyes. Cas loved Dean's eyes- they were so beautiful- and seeing them in the light of the setting sun made them look downright gorgeous. They were a stunning green, and Cas could see Dean's soul through them. While they did hold some pain, they also had a lightness to them. Cas couldn't help but notice that that light in them was a much more frequent occurrence when he was around (well, when Dean knew he was there; sometimes Cas would pop in to check on Dean, and he was not as happy as he was when he was actually with the angel).

He didn't know he had been staring until Dean looked over at him and smirked. "What, do I have something on my face?" he asked, chuckling. Cas could only shake his head, and looked back at the ocean in embarrassment. Dean opened his mouth, as if to say something, but closed it. Now he was the one staring, and how could he not? Much like Cas, he was entranced by his best friend's appearance. His raven-like hair, that was somehow always messed up just right and looked to be so soft to the touch, his strong jawline, and his eyes. Oh, his eyes. Castiel's eyes were a brilliant blue, and it seemed to Dean as if there was a whole galaxy in them. They showed that Cas had seen so much, and yet he still only knew things from an angel's perspective. Dean didn't mind though; he liked teaching Cas human things. (A/N: Not that way- come on guys!)

Dean's thoughts (and staring) were interrupted by Sam (the moose). "Hey, me and Gabriel are getting ice cream; want anything?" he asked the pair.

"I've never had ice cream," Cas replied.

"What?!" Dean practically shouted. "Well then, I'll get chocolate, and my angel will get vanilla." Oh no. Did he just call Cas /his/ angel? Crap crap crap crap--

Sam smirked. He all but knew his older brother had a major crush on Cas, and this just confirmed it. "Okay, two ice creams for you lovers," he said sassily, winking.

Dean cringed, and looked over at Cas. He didn't seem alarmed; if anything, he seemed kind of... happy? "Sorry, Cas," he said shakily, "I don't know why I said that..."

Cas grinned. For once, the hunter wasn't smooth, calm, and collected. Wait, he thought, do I have that effect on him? Does he feel the same way about me as I do about him?  "Dean," Cas said, "don't be. I, uh... well I'm not that great with emotions yet but I have one towards you, and I believe it is called..." he paused, "...love." He closed his eyes, half expecting rejection, half hoping that he wasn't wrong and that Dean felt the same. However, nothing happened. He opened his eyes cautiously, and looked at Dean. He looked dumbstruck. "I'm sorry... I just had to-" Cas started, but Dean cut him off by smashing his lips to Cas's.

Cas melted into the kiss, and pulled Dean closer to him. All those years of tension were finally being released into one kiss that sent fireworks off in each man's head. As Dean deepened the kiss, he ran his fingers through Castiel's hair, which, much as Dean had hoped, was extremely soft. As he did that, Cas slid his hand down Dean's back, making Dean shiver. As they embraced each other tighter and kissed each other harder, they heard an "ahem." They pulled away, gasping for air, and then looked up.

There stood Sam and Gabriel, each holding two ice creams. "Special delivery for Destiel," said Sammy, grinning. Gabriel also seemed ecstatic, as he was giggling like a fangirl. Dean and Cas both turned red, and grabbed their ice cream.

"Thanks, Sabriel," Dean replied, regaining some of his cool. Now it was their turn to blush.

"Right, well, uh, I'll be taking Sam away, and you two continue," said Gabriel after a moment, grabbing Sam's free hand and half-dragging him away.

Dean and Cas ate their ice cream in a comfortable silence, enjoying the now dark sky. "Dean," Cas said, breaking the silence, "this is delicious." Dean smiled.

"I'm glad you like it," he replied. A thought crossed his mind, and he smirked. "You should try vanilla-chocolate swirl."

"Oooh, that sounds good. Are we getting more?" Cas asked innocently. Dean responded by crashing his lips onto Cas's once again. His eyes widened in understanding, and then kissed Dean back.

After a while of making out, they pulled away for air. They then just lay down on the blanket. Dean reached over and grasped Cas's hand, and held onto it. Cas smiled, and lay there looking up at the stars with his best friend- no, boyfriend.

A/N: Hey guys, so I know a lot of people don't read these author's notes, but it's worth a shot.
