38. From Where you Are
I feel the beating of your heart
I see the shadows of your face
Just know that wherever you are
I miss you and I wish you were here
“Here let me do this,” I say, brushing his hands away from the sink.
He frowns and i bite my lip, not wanting to snap at him.
“I can do it Aria,” He says lowly, irritated.
His dark eyes roam my face, settling on my lips.
“You just got back from the doctors. He said you should take a nap or something. You still have that headache, right?” I argue.
I briefly notice the way his hands clench into fists as my stubbornness rises.
“Aria,” he says, irked.
I ignore him, scrubbing the dishes harder.
It was about mid noon and we had just gotten back from the doctors.
We spent nearly the entire day there.
After running a few blood tests, the doctors did what they normally did with teegan.
Today however, teegan was in a bad mood.
But I guess I was too.
Everyone was in a bad mood on Mondays.
“Seriously, I can do it, I’m not helpless,” Teegan says quietly, placing a hand on my elbow.
“Oh my gosh teegan!” I snap in exasperation. “Let me do it. Its just dishes. You must be really tired.”
Teegan recoils, stepping back, his eyes hard.
I could feel anger bubbling in me for some absurd reason and after hearing the doctor’s say that the surgery was scheduled for next week, I felt like punching something.
I didn’t even know where all this anger was coming from. I was just angry.
I was beyond worried about the surgery and even though Teegan was shoving aside all emotion that concerned fear, I knew that he was faking it.
And that’s what upset me the most. I could do nothing for Teegan. I couldn’t do anything to help him cope with his hearing loss.
If I couldn’t do that as his girlfriend right now when he still had his hearing, how can I help him when he goes deaf?
All in all, I felt like a suckish girlfriend.
Focusing on the dishes, I try and ignore the penetrating stare that is burning into my face and instead focus on rinsing.
“I’m not hopeless you know,” he says suddenly, a hard bite to his voice.
