Peeta, Beetee, Katniss, and Johanna were all sitting on the sand. While Finnick had me in the water with him. He was playing with my hair and whispering soothing things into my ears. When Johanna called for us to go back over to them. We got up and I grabbed his hand. Walking over to them. " Where do the Careers feel safest? The Jungle?" Beetee asked. "The jungle's a nightmare." Johanna said. "So probably here on the beach." I said. "Then why aren't they here?" He asked. "Because we are. We claimed it." Johanna said. "And if we left they would come." Beetee said. "Or stay hidden in the tree line." Me and Finnick said at the same time making me feel a little bit better and blushing. "Which in just over four hours will be soaked with water from the 10 o'clock wave. And what happens at midnight?" He asked. "The lightning strikes the tree." I answered. "Good, now here's what I propose. We leave the beach at dusk. We head to the lightning tree. That should draw them back to the beach. Prior to midnight, we then run this wire from the tree to the water. Anyone in the water or on the damp sand will be electrocuted." He said. "How do we know the wires not going to burn up?" Johanna asked. "Because I invented it. I assure you it won't burn up." He said. "Well its better than hunting them down." Johanna said. "Yea, why not? If it fails, no harm done anyway, right?" Katniss asked. "Alright I say we try it." Peeta said. "So what can we do to help?" Finnick asked. "Keep me alive for the next six hours. That would be extremely helpful." Beetee said. We all said alright and me and Finnick walked back into the water. I watched as he swung his trident around. Smiling about how hot he looked doing it. "Wait can you help me with something?" I asked making him stop. "And what would that be?" He asked stopping smirking at me. "My lips are feeling a bit lonely. Why don't you come over here and be their company." I said. He walked to me sitting down next to me in the waves. We both leaned in and kissed. I pulled away splashing him with water and laughing. He smiled a devious smile and got on top of me, tickling me. After a while we stopped and watched the sun go down. "Finnick, what happens if this plan works. I can't be the one to win these games. All I have left at home is a brother who doesn't want me. While you guys have stuff to return to." I said. He brushed a piece of hair out of my face. "If you die. I'll die with. Just from a broken heart. I can't live without you. I never knew happiness till I met you." He said and kissed me. We kissed till Johanna yelled "All right, Love Birds.!" We pulled away and got up. Walking towards the tree. When the pictures of who has died so far showed up. We continued walking on when it finished. "Minimal charring. Its an impressive conductor. Lets get started." He said and we went to the tree wrapping the wire around it. "Typically a lightning strike contains five billion joules of energy. We don't want to be anywhere in the vicinity when this hits. You three girls, go together now. Take this unspool it carefully. Make sure the entire coil is in the water. You understand? Then head to the tree at the 2 o'clock sector. We'll meet you there." He said and I took the coil in my hands. Kissing Finnick goodbye. Since I would not be returning when they meet back up. I couldn't tell Finnick goodbye it would hurt too much. "I'm gonna go with them as a guard." Peeta said, but got turned down by beetee saying. "No, no, no. You're staying here to protect me. And the tree." "No, I need to go with her." Peeta said. "There are two Careers out there. I need two guards." Beetee said. "Finnick can protect you just fine on his own." Peeta said. "Yeah, why can't Finnick and Johanna stay with you and Peeta, Lily, and me will take the coil?" Katniss asked. Why did she have to bring me into this? "You all agreed to keep me alive till midnight, correct?" He asked. "It's his plan. We all agreed to it." Johanna said. "Is there a problem here?" Finnick asked. I backed away a little bit not wanting to be apart of this. "Excellent question." Beetee said. "No, There's no problem." Katniss said going and kissing Peeta. "I'll see you at midnight." She told him. "All right, lets go!" I shouted walking ahead of them. After a while of walking. I gave the coil to Katniss. Staying ahead of them so I could protect them if needed. "Come on, I want to put as much distance between me and this beach as possible. Frying is not how I want to go." Johanna said from behind me. I heard them stop walking and turned around to see the wire was caught. Suddenly the wire was cut and Katniss throws the thing behind her and Brutus and Enobaria come out. Johanna picks up the coil and swings it behind her hitting me up side the head. Then hitting Katniss too. I fell on the ground, as Johanna cut into arm making me scream. "Shush stay down." She told me doing to same to Katniss. Then she ran off with Enobaria and Brutus following her. When she was gone I crawled to Katniss pulling her to hiding. When I heard Finnick yelled "Johanna, Where are you? Johanna." He whispered. I let a tear fall as he left. How could he betray me like that? When he was gone I put Katniss's arm around my neck. Walking back to the tree as fast as I could. "Peeta." She kept whispering as I carried her. "Its okay. Its all going to be okay." I said. I knew what to do now. As I set her down and took her bow and an arrow. I wrapped the wire around the arrow and got it ready to shoot. I was gonna shoot it at the force field. When I saw Finnick running towards me and got ready to shoot it at him. "Lily, please. Remember who the real enemy is." He said and I put the bow down as the lightning got ready to start. "Lily, Get away from the tree!" Finnick yelled running towards me. Right as I saw it shoot down from the sky. I quickly shot it. The lightning threw me in the air and I landed on top of Finnick. Passing out as I watched the dome fall down in flames. I knew, fire was catching.
